Shopping Heaven

A fun part of taking a vacation is discovering new shops.

Yes, admittedly, shopping is a passion of mine.

Some people love hiking, kayaking, or boating on vacation.

Me?  Give me a few bucks, put me in a town that has lots of shops, and I'm happier than a lark.

Rockport, Massachusetts, is chock-full of interesting little shops.

The prices of items in some of them would raise your eyebrows, but others have affordable treasures.

These days, my purchases are mostly for grand kids.

These sparkling, spinning thing-a-ma-jigs fascinated but with self-restraint, they remained in the shop.

This pretty glass seahorse appealed to me but I didn't bring him, either.

A sweatshirt, for fall, on a clearance rack in one shop, did make it into my shopping bag.

We had so much fun shopping in Rockport and all the kids loved their gifties.

WHAT, IF ANYTHING, DO YOU BUY WHEN YOU ARE ON VACATION?

I love to shop also and little interesting stores are so fun to explore but the prices are usually too high. I often buy a local craft!

Post cards and refrigerator magnet for me. I'm NOT a shopper at all. Sometimes I get something for the grandkids if it is relative to the area I'm in ...I'm sure you enjoyed your shopping spree.

I'm with you, Susan, I love to go shopping. But I don't always buy something. It has to really speak to me for me to bring it home. Those sparkly spinning things are unusual, aren't they? Rockport looks like such a charming town with lots of quaint shops. Did you bring anything home with you?

It looks like a wonderful place to shop - I have really never been to anything like that. I am the same as you - most of the things I buy are for the grandchildren too. sandie

Hi Susan -

What fun that you were able to explore such unique shops!

The last time we took a day trip, I found a fabric keychain with my name embroidered on it. I always had a hard time finding my mother's keys in my purse. Now, with the purple name keychain, I see them immediately.

I guess my vacation shopping has a practical bent - useful items, local foods, items reflecting the local culture that mix well with my decor, etc.
