As long as we had them, the moles went away. They got broken and the moles are back. I wonder whether the strategic placement of a few handfuls of those might help with the 'chucks. Of course, they'd need to be replaced after a rainy spell, but it might be an inexpensive way to eliminate their disturbance. I don't think they'd eat them and die from the contents, but the smell seems to be a deterrent in many instances. Just a thought....
