Tuesday, March 2, 2011: Mexican Lunch at Chipotle Grill

Away for the day, on a shopping mission, my daughter suggested we stop for lunch at Chipotle Mexican Grill near Albany, New York.

My initial reaction was acceptance but not enthusiasm, since the Mexican food on the east coast leaves a lot to be desired.  It often smacks of canned and boxed food  instead of fresh, like the Mexican food served in the southwest.  

We both ordered Burrito Bowls and I am happy to say,  they were quite delicious. 

They came with lime flavored rice, grilled chicken, sprinkles of cheese, lots of grilled peppers and onions (my fave), plenty of chopped lettuce, guacamole (an avocado combination), both hot and mild salsas, a dollop of sour cream, and beans. Since the latter were black beans, I opted to skip them since I prefer  pink pinto beans. 

The bowl was a good size and even though I planned to bring some home, that didn't happen. I ate the contents of the bowl, right down to the last, tasty bite.

I skipped the high carb tortilla (but missed it) and also eliminated dessert.  The Burrito Bowl was by far and away enough to satisfy any appetite for many, many hours.
