Tulip Festival Draws Hundreds of Spectators

Flower lovers had a major hay day this past weekend when they attended the annual Tulip Festival in Washington Park in Albany, New York.

It was impossible to stop snapping the camera since the flowers were so magnificent.

Every imaginable colored tulip lifted its head to the sun as hundreds of visitors strolled past the dozens upon dozens of neatly planted beds.

Apricot, burgundy, orange, pink, purple, red, white, and yellow were just some of the colors displayed.

The festival also offered dozens of different crafts set up under covered stalls. It was hard to get a good look at some of them since there were so many people.

The beds of tulips had been planted in beautiful arrangements, some in circle and others in square beds. They dazzled visitors with their colors and designs. Some were even ruffled!

Of course, as in all good festivals, there was lots of entertainment. Here are some Irish dancers:

Food booths competed for attention and offered everything from Mediterranean and Puerto Rican to Thai and regular favorites like bloomin' onions, fry dough, and corn dogs.

We had Thai dinners with marinated and barbecued chicken, fried rice, and noodles.

WHAT WAS THE LAST FESTIVAL YOU ATTENDED?

Hi Susan, thanks for your suggestion, I will try larger photos, not sure if I like them to take up so much space. Did you know you could click on them to enlarge them?

tulips are not a common flower here (because of the tropical weather?), so it is a joy whenever one comes across one, usually brought in especially for special event such as weddings. It must so beautiful to see so many!! Gorgeous flower.
thanks for sharing!
have a lovely day.

The tulip festival is enchanting to see with all the colors and beautiful tulips! I have always adored tulips. In 2002 we attended the Floriade in Holland. It is not just tulips, but all types of flowers blooming in different settings. I was so enthralled that my feet did not touch the ground all day!! That show only happens every 10 years. It is wonderful that your festival is every year. What a wonderful way to spend Mother's Day strolling in the tulips! Thank you for dropping by my blog and leaving a lovely comment. You made me aware to tell my readers that the gift is 10 place settings and serving pieces, as well. I made it sound like "one plate".....thanks again so I can correct it!
