SATURDAY: So Much to Be Thankful For

There is so much to be thankful for in this ol' world.

Just today, my  heart filled with gratitude for so many small things that meant a lot.

First and foremost, my beloved kitty has been ill. For two days, no food passed her lips. She hunkered down underneath a living room couch---a place she never went before.

I was worried sick. Just when I was about to call the vet to get an appointment, Honey Cat nibbled a few bites of food.  Throughout this no food period, she did continue to drink water.

Finally, tonight, she ate and began to strut around the house like her old self, looking for a scratch behind the ears and under her chinny, chin, chin.  I think she's going to be okay.

This  Grandmother cat (15 years old), is part of my children's childhood. They are all grown up and moved away now but the cat is still with us. If something happened to her, part of me would die, too.

Next on today's gratitude list is a lovely bouquet of daisies, given to me by a friend:

And another bouquet of flowers, given by a second friend who takes a Japanese flower arranging class, then brings the bouquet to our house!

My husband has been making his fabulous salads lately and that makes me very happy. He adds chopped beets, green onions, mint, parsley, radishes, Romaine lettuce,  chopped tomatoes, lime juice and olive oil. I cannot tell you how much I LOVE his salads. No matter how I try to make them, his always taste better.  (Thanks, Honey.) Yum yum yum

In today's mail amid the bills and junk,  came the latest catalog from Victorian Trading Company. Now I love this catalog. It's a good half hour read for me. I usually circle the items I'd buy if money were no object.

Last, but certainly not least, one of my sisters gave me not one, not two, but three containers of freshly picked raspberries from her own bushes. Mmmmm. There's nothing like fresh raspberries on a July afternoon.

NAME SOME THINGS YOU ARE GRATEFUL FOR TODAY!

I am grateful that it is 7:14 am and I am the only one awake at the moment. Hubby has already gone off to work and I have the whole day to clean and piddle. With temps of 120, it is full blown pajama days for me.

I am also grateful that Honey Cat is doing better. When kitties stop eating, it is a sure sign that something is ailing them. Hope she remains well.

Enjoy those beautiful bouquets. We need something blooming and alive around here.

Yusef loves raspberries. My aunt had some in her garden last year and they would go out in the morning to pick some to put on pancakes or in cereal.

Have a super dee duper Saturday! :) Tammy

Dearest Susan,

You got several things to tell but the most important is that your Honey Cat is doing better. They are part of the family and 16 years is quite a time for sharing life together!

Lots of love,

Mariette

Mmm, wow, what a great post! Let me see....

So glad your lovely kitty is okay. Oh the worry! I hate it. As I write this my lovely Sparrow lies on my knee, glad to take a break from her babies.
We have just said goodbye to kitty number two as he leaves home and heads off with his new family. We are so sad to see them go, but it has to be done. We had five, and are keeping one, and all are going with good friends of ours, thankfully! Mama kitty is ready I think, poor thing!

Yum, summer salads!

And we have bags full of blackcurrants the size of grapes, freshly picked yesterday.

Ahh, summer....!

Happy your beloved kitty is seeming all better! I love raspberries too. I even bought a tiny container for myself at the market this week. I planted a bush in the garden this year. Actually I bought three bushes but by the time I got them planted only one survived. That was sad.

So glad your kitty is better! I know how worried you must have been. So terrible when animials can not tell us what is wrong though we know something isn't right!

Oh poor kitty! So glad she is better! My Charlie is almost 13 and I know the fear that can come with having an older cat. I am so grateful this week for a great lunch and junking trip with my friend Sandie. I also read some good books this week. It has been a great week and I'm going to have a fun cookout with some friends today!

I hope your kitty has many more good years left. I remember when we lost our Tabitha (the only cat I've ever had or loved). A part of you definitely dies with your pets.

I don't know what it is about a husband's salads, but mine makes great ones, too. :)

I am grateful we have had two cool days in 80's! The wind has blown and given us a nice breeze. We were able to sit outside this evening for a little while!

Your hubby's salad looks delicious! Is that ALL there is in the dressing? Lime juice & oil?

I'm thankful for the pie ala-mode my husband and I split after the Garden Walk yesterday! A red raspberry with a scoop of vanilla. Out. Of. This. World!

Also found a Miss Read book (collection of 3 of hers actually) for $.50 at a flea market AFTER the Garden Walk.

I'm thankful for the breeze that blew DURING the Garden Walk keeping the 93 degree temperature almost tolerable.
