Miniature Purchases

Okay, so I'm obsessed with dollhouses and miniatures.

There, I admitted it.  I love both.

You can imagine how thrilling it was to attend the 2013 Dollhouse Miniatures Festival in Sturbridge, Massachusetts, this month.

It required my driving on a busy turnpike but I did it and it was worth it.

Following are the items I picked up for dollhouse projects, one of which is a mall I'm working on. (At last it's a mall in my dreams. We'll see if I can turn it into reality.)

It's going to be a bakery, candy store, bookstore and thrift shop!

Here's a mini bag of flour for the miniature bakers:

Also for the bakery will be this baker's rack.  It'll be spray-painted white, though, to match everything else.

The rack and the sink, which follows, came from Bill and Barbara Studebaker's booth.

Their website is www.StudebakerMiniatures.com.

In addition, for the bakery, are these two nicely made display cases. The man who sold them to me said he lived in New Bedford, MA, but I didn't get his business card. Bummer.

Got this cool sink which was made in Japan:

Here's a beautifully laser engraved mirror that I just love. (Check out www.jmgminiatures.com/). Jon Gower, artisan, makes fabulous things!

This is a soda machine which will go in the candy store. It came complete with little handmade cups. My sister bought it for me since I drove and paid for gas.

Purchased it at Karen Aird's booth. Her website is www.KarensDollhouse.com.

The best purchase of all was the chandy shown at the top of this post and below.

It's going to go in the dollhouse bakery. It's battery operated and attaches to the ceiling via magnet. There's also a small round piece that gets glued to the ceiling first.

I got it at the Manhattan Dollhouse booth. Their website address is www.manhattandollhouse.com.

How wonderful that someone came up with the idea of battery-operated lighting for dollhouses.

This was happy news for people like me who are intimidated by installing electrical wiring.

Isn't this a great little chandy?

So there you have it. Those are my latest dollhouse treasures!

WHAT IS THE BEST THING YOU EVER SAW IN MINIATURE?

These are incredible! A few years ago, when I was teaching in Tokyo at their big craft show, there were also some amazing miniatures...I was in awe. Great finds and addition to the rest of your treasures. XOXO

I do love to look at miniatures but haven't got any myself and it has been a long time since I've seen any. I did a quick search of prices and can't believe how expensive the pieces are. You are no doubt kept very busy looking for specials. Have fun decorating your dollhouses.

Nice miniature purchases, Susan. I liked the chandelier the most - it would give that real look to the doll house for sure!
I can't wait to see how and where you place all these goodies!

Oh, I wish I had the girls' dollhouse still, Susan. These pieces are so delightful. When the girls were grown, I gave it away, and I really wish I hadn't. They didn't have too much furniture in it, but I do remember a little rocking chair. I always loved that.

Your posts are so cheerful, with big and bright pictures. I always leave here with a smile, and just wanted you to know that.

Love,
~Sheri

Sounds like a big undertaking to make a mall...but oh the endless possibility's and hours of fun...if i had a space I would love to get a small house and decorate it....I worry it would become an addiction LOL

Cute stuff! I really like that chandy. It looks like the lighting I've been buying from Hobby Lobby, I got 2 wall sconces and 2 ceiling lights, they both have that same shade on them. How neat!
