Tranquility Found

A  moment of tranquility came unexpectedly and  filled my heart with overwhelming love.

I offered to watch my sweet little 10  month old granddaughter for a couple of hours.

After her parents left, she drank a bottle of warm formula, we read three stories and then she was sleepy.

She laid her little head on my ample bosom and closed those big hazel eyes that take in every detail of the world.

Looking down on the little sleeping angel, I couldn’t help but wonder what life would have in store for her.

Because she is a beloved child of God, I knew in my heart she would be forever loved and protected by Him so everything would be okay.

Her long eyelashes curled gently out from her closed eyes.

I looked at the little indentation above her perfectly formed
lips and studied her chubby dimpled baby hands.

This exquisite little baby has added immense joy to all of our lives. For my husband and me, the words of the Bible have come alive---the part where  grandchildren will be the jewels in the crown of old age. (Or something like that.)

So as I listened to the short, raspy breaths of this darling little sweetheart,  I felt all five of her tiny fingers close around my index finger.

That’s when I felt the tranquility so wished for on a rainy afternoon.

HAVE YOU FELT THE LOVE OF BEING A GRANDPARENT?

YES YES YES YES YES AND YES and I have no idea how people when they see such a perfect little human being - that they don't see what a miracle worker God is. I mean everything is there - just in miniature. And she is so beautiful....

Ah... that was precious. Thanks for sharing that :-) Oh the love of a child is so sweet isn't it? My two grand kids are now 6 and 4... time surely does go by so fast. I am fortunate that my daughter and her husband live on the next street over from us-- so I get to see my two loves all the time. Such sweet blessings in life!

YES I HAVE! It is truly amazing. I know when Tiger was a baby and I would hold him and would fall asleep and the love and joy that flooded my heart was and is so amazing. Now he is older and makes me so happy when he says, 'Grandma I love you'!! Your Grand is a beautiful gift from God! hugs, Linda

She is just adorable, Susan. I know she brings a piece of heaven to you and your husband.

I'm not a grandmother yet, but I am a proud grand-aunt to two darling little girls. They make my heart sing.

Someone said, "If I'd known how wonderful being a grandparent was, I'd have done that first!" Me, too. Cherish these baby days - they zoom by! Bless you, Grandma.

Loved looking at the baby. I think they look so vulnerable when they are asleep and they are so so precious. Isn't being a grandparent the joy of our lives?
