Little Red Riding Hood

Never, ever doubt that childhood experiences are important.

Children are as impressionable as little sponges.

While clear details may blur over the course of years, I believe specific events remain in our minds and hearts for life.

When I was in first grade, the class was wildly excited when our teacher told us we  were going to perform the children's tale "Little Red Riding Hood."

She had costumes all ready and drummed up a lot of enthusiasm among her little charges.

 Now that's a great teacher!

The day came when she was to announce who was going to play specific parts.

Much to my delight, she chose me to be Little Red Riding Hood herself!

Today, all I remember about the play, many decades later, is feeling immense excitement and wearing the red cape!

But my love of theater has remained with me throughout my entire life.

All I have to do is look at the Little Red Riding Hood doll inside my curio cabinet to find myself smiling.

Ahhhhh.  The joys of happy childhood memories!

WHAT IS ONE HAPPY MEMORY YOU HAVE FROM YOUR EARLY CHILDHOOD?

I have memories of my Father telling us bedtime stories..and scaring the heck out of us as well as making us laugh ourselves silly. He sometimes told the same ones over and over and we LOVED them. I never knew you were Little Red Riding Hood...wow!

Ah she is so sweet Susan,Lovely memories.
I am so grateful and excited. I got my parcel in the post this morning and it is my birthday month too.
The little swan is so beautiful,I can't believe you actually sent it all this way to me. I think it is the start of another collection as I have a little clear glass swan and they go together beautifully
I can't thank you enough. You are so thoughtful xxx jeanette

I am lucky to have many many happy memories of my childhood :) One of them is a trip to Germany with my Mum to her brother. It was 17 years ago, when I was 9 :) It was one of the happiest times in my life, and I still want to go there again. Everything seemed like a fairy tale to me, and I do look so happy and smiling in all the photos. Otherwise, any memory I have are related to my parents and their care and love for me. They still do this, though I grew up :)

Hello from Spain: I like to know your star when you are a girl in Red Riding Hood's work. Nice memories and passion for theater. My happy memory is Christmas morning and the tree full of presents and a nice dollhouse. Keep in touch

The enjoyable memory you brought to my mind is the Halloween that my mother made me a Little Red Riding Hood costume from an old pair of GREEN drapes - we couldn't afford to go out and buy red fabric so she repurposed the old drapes (she was always ahead of her time). Love!!!

I know how delighted you were. I had as peaking part in a play in 3rd grade. All I said was, "Oh Mother, over here!" I was chosen because I projected theloudest. I remeber chasing that 8th grade "mother" around the playground reciting my line until she ran me off.

Some of my childhood memories include paper dolls and paper clothes. Later, I had several little dolls that were about 6 inches tall dolled up in colorful outfits.

I remember playing in a wash tub full with water with a little boat as the teen-age neighbor girl wanted to have "school" one summer.:-)

I would have guessed that you would have been Little Red Riding Hood. I would have picked you too.

I had a wonderful brother.
