Labor Day Breakfast

What better way to celebrate a holiday, any holiday, than by having guests over for breakfast?

Labor Day brought two of our regular guests to the table. Yes, it was a little  bit of labor on my part but a joyful labor.

Had one of my favorite tablecloths on the table, sprinkled with lots of flowers.

Some of my cousin's delicious homemade biscotti were on one dish.

The fruit tray, shown at the top of this post, consisted of fresh blueberries, watermelon, honeydew melon and cherries!

The previous night, I marinated a flat iron steak in lime juice and olive oil.

Left it marinating in a bowl inside the refrigerator all night.

Put it in a very hot frying pan, turned it on both sides, sprinkled it with salt and pepper, and then turned the heat way down.

It was quite yummy.  Since we almost never have steak for breakfast, it was a special treat!

Also had scrambled eggs.

First I chopped  some onions, fried them in a little bit of oil, then scooped  them out but used the oil for the eggs. Yummy.

Hot buttered rolls tasted delish.

Of course, there had to be lemon water.

HAVE YOU EVER SERVED STEAK FOR BREAKFAST?

What a great Labor Day breakfast, Susan. The fruit looks so good. Have you ever tried bellpeppers in your scrambled eggs? It's quite tasty.

Happy September!

Love,
~Sheri

Yes - steak for breakfast, but not that often. I have made your recipe and I can tell you it is delicious. How in the world did you get all that to be ready at the same time? Looked heavenly. sandie

I just had guests for breakfast over the weekend. I served them Creme Broulee French Toast and two kinds of melons and grapes and bananas..Dunkin Donuts French Roast coffee and orange juice. All was very yummy. I have had steak many times for breakfast ...usually left over from the night before supper.

Lovely breakfast and healthy looking too. I always say I'd love to be a guest at your home for meals ;-) You are such a good hostess. As for me, I never make steak for breakfast. Usually I make porridge. I think my most decadent breakfast is homemade waffles with fruits and whipped cream which we often have for Christmas breakfast.

Can't say that I have - but it sure sounds delicious. I wouldn't even know what "cut" of meat that is...

What an attractive breakfast. Great idea!

I'd rather have my steak for the evening meal. It was a grand breakfast you served. Fruit is my favorite.

Awesome breakfast!!! I have never served steak for breakfast. We went camping over the labor day weekend and had steak for dinner one night. I made some pretty terrific breakfasts while we were there but I think I will add the steak for breakfast next camping trip!!
