Guess what?
Looking out the window yesterday morning, the ground, the cars and everything else in sight was covered with a layer of white.
Yup! The first snowfall of the season arrived.It wasn't enough to shovel or stick to the ground for long (that will come soon enough).
Good thing hubs had already brought in the plants.
They are being stored on the enclosed side porch.
For weeks I reminded him to take my vinca vines out from the window boxes because I want to save them for next spring.
Finally, I dug them out myself and hubs put them into hanging pots.
Four hands are always better than two!
Can winter really be so close?

Sorry...there's no winter months in So. Cal so I can't help you there. Glad you have an enclosed porch these days and a very helpful husband!
Well you know I am crazy over plants. So we bring some in the house, some in the garage and some just have to freeze. Isn't that just terrible! But our Winter is warmer than yours-so I don't know if the garage would be a good idea.
Thank goodness for a sweetie of husband!

No winter here in Madras, India... just a lot and lot of rains, during the monsoon season. That time, we don't water them for days...
Winter is toying with us in the midwest,20s tonight, but spring is threatening a return...70's on Saturday. Crazy weather. Dislike winter.
Never had a problem once we had a few severe frosts and I lost some plants but we lose more stuff from heat than cold.

Oh my, will your plants still live on the porch? That is amazing. I figured it was so there that nothing would last the winter. Here...we closed the deck and dumped plants on Sunday. So sad.
Yes, it's good to be able to have an indoor place to move those plants when the weather takes a cold turn!
I would love to have an enclosed side porch like yours, it looks so cozy. I don't bring in plants since I live in a temperate area of California. I am sure people in the Sierra mountains bring plants in.

What a lovely retreat! :) We too, had a bit of snow yesterday, along with very chilly temps. I thought the same thing - can winter be far away?

It is nice that both you and your hubs worked together - it is more fun.
Susan - I don't have any plants I have to bring in - and I really don't even have any to cover.

Oh Susan, your first snowfall. It must be a sight! We don't get to see the snow much here in California unless we go high up in the mountains. I am already getting ready for Christmas and decorating a bit. Your porch looks cozy.

It's nice that you have a space to store the plants. Around here, winter is the growing season. Too bad I can't bring everything in during the summer. :) Tammy
