A Christmas Bird

One of my favorite Christmas CDs is the Walton Family Christmas album.

One of the songs on that beloved cd is "That's What Christmas Means to Me."

It starts out like this:

"Outside my window is a Christmas bird
Singing the sweetest song you ever heard.

Through wind and snow that little bird
                                  keeps singing in that tree.
That's  what Christmas means to me."

Honestly, the whole song is absolutely darling.

I've played it only about 500 times! ha!

When I saw the sparkly cardinal (in photo at top of post) on a Christmas tree this season, that song came right into my heart!

I read that when a person sees a red cardinal, it means someone from the other realm of life is visiting!

DO YOU EVER SEE CARDINALS WHERE YOU LIVE?

This bird is the mascot of the school where I taught for twenty six years. I have many of them given to me as gifts from the kids on my Christmas tree. I haven't seen a real one in a long time as they are winter birds and we do not have winter here.

Yes I see cardinals. Nothing prettier than a redbird in a snowy cedar! I love the Walton Cd too!

Cardinals have become a favorite of mine because my dear Grandma Betty loved them. I always think of her when I see one :)

Thanks for sharing. Merry Christmas, sweet Susan!

We have several cardinals that fly about our yard all winter long. They are a flash of bright color in an otherwise dreary landscape. Where is the snow? Just lots and lots of rain predicted for the next 2 days. No drought here, and I guess the travelers will have no delays.

The Walton's CD is wonderful. I haven't listened to it yet this season; thanks for reminding me. Going to do some baking now, so will listen to the CD as I'm doing that.

Merry Christmas to you and your family!

I have never seen a cardinal, Susan. I would love to see one because they are so bright and beautiful. One of the first things my son did when he moved to Illinois was send me a picture of a cardinal he saw.
Your tea party below was adorable! Thank you for all your visits to my Christmas Pudding blog and Merry Christmas to you and your loved ones!

Blessings,
Sandi

Susan,
The Walton's Christmas Movie, THE HOMECOMING, is one of my favorites of all. Your little red cardinal is sweet, and how wonderful to learn a few tidbits about it. Did you know this bird fascinates me, and I did a post about it recently? So, I was wondering when you talked about the cardinal....does it mean when we see one in person or just pictures of them?
