Cobalt Blue

Took a trip up to the attic this past weekend to retrieve some cobalt blue pieces for the kitchen.

One of my sisters gave me her entire cobalt blue  glass collection.

She just wanted to simplify.

Blue was never a favorite color of mine. Ever.

These days, however, I do love the pleasant shade of cobalt.

It's rich and satisfying.

So down came the red glass for Valentine's Day and up went the blue.

First, however, I washed the glass in hot water to which dish detergent and white vinegar had been added.

Then the pieces air dried.

(Poor old St. Patty. Green was completely forgotten.)

DO YOU KNOW WHY THIS GLASS IS CALLED COBALT BLUE?

Beautiful pieces and they look gorgeous in your window!

I think this glass is called cobalt blue because it contains cobalt blue pigment which is why the glass is so intensely blue. It's the same pigment used in ceramics and artist paints.

These are so pretty! I'm like you, not a giant fan of blue either. But these are different somehow, their color intensity just makes them more appealing. Love the way they look in the window. :)
