Today's the Day We Take Christmas Decor Away

Today's the day we take all Christmas decor away.

It would have been sooner but I've been sick with a bad cold.

Dozens upon dozens of decorations must be carefully wrapped, packed and hauled up to the attic.

The beautiful Christmas tree will be dismantled.

Once the "big" house is undecorated, there's the dollhouse Christmas decor to pack away, too!

When it comes to taking away Christmas decor, it always makes me a little sad. I always wonder what will happen during the year before next  December.

Now that I"m older, the thought of who might go to the other side of life during the year is not far off.

One realizes it could also be one's self.

That's when living in the moment comes sharply into focus.  It's sooooo important.

HOW DO YOU PRACTICE LIVING IN THE MOMENT?

Your decorations are lovely - hard to pack and p ut away just to get out again !!!

How do I live in the moment - I try to do that - some times I get off the path - but when I get off the path and start to worry - I do have to think who is really in control - and I personally have to turn if over to God if I can - and then I try to enjoy what is around me.

How true, your statement about living in the now. It seems that every week or so another friend or acquaintance passes from this life. Last week, a neighbor four houses away. And, very very sadly, just before Christmas, a mercy killing of two elderly and very ill husband and wife. I lost my significant other and closest gal friend in 2014. I seems like yesterday. Happiness is a choice. I diligently try to live one day at a time.

I hope you are feeling "back to normal". What lovely Christmas decor! Blessings.

It is so hard to live in the moments sometimes! I try to not dwell on the past but look to each day for joy.

It's always so hard to take the Christmas decor down. I always miss the twinkling lights and sparkling ornaments. Even my son said our house looked "bare" after taking everything down :)

Happy weekend, dear one. Hugs!

So glad you are on the "mend" health wise Susan. You have a huge job taking down all those Christmas delights but at least you have some help. Have a great weekend. I live in the moment all the time..the past is past and no one knows the future. Meditate on the good things in life and take one day at a time as each day is a gift from the LORD!

I can't think to much when I put away Christmas...it has always been a "marker" for me...also autumn in general...Fourth of July is another: half way through summer and seeing year's end coming.

I always live in the moment, we just never know what will happen in life. And like I have told my girls if something happens to me, to know I have had the most incredible life. It's all good! :) Kit

It fills the heart with melancholy to think of the passing years. I actually enjoy putting my decorations away. It reminds me that in six weeks I will be hanging my heart-shaped wreath on the door, and it will stay up until fall. Hope you are feeling better.

I took my tree down too. Agree , it looks so "naked", but I love an uncluttered space that looks clean, too!
Being a church organist, especially When Christmas Eve is a Thursday, makes me want to say"bye now!" I spent 4 days in a row

I usually don't mind putting Christmas decorations away because I want to start the new year with a fresh start, but I did miss my tree. It had the strongest pine scent of any year, and it was hard to see it go. :)

I hope you are feeling better with your cold, dear Susan.

love, ~Sheri
