Finding Treasures

A Methodist church in western Massachusetts has really great tag sales.

Some people call them yard sales.  The proceeds of the one at the church are for missions, which takes away a tad of guilt over buying more "stuff."

These days, I am extremely discerning about purchases since I had to move from a home to a small apartment that has no storage area.

However, tag sales are recreational fun so they have not been eliminated completely.

At this week's sale, only one item came home with me.

It's a very lovely, ornate, crystal/glass pitcher that will double as a vase for pink roses.

It's quite tall, say, a foot and a half.

The flowers can be gifted and that will include the beautiful vase.

I keep all special vases on a top shelf in the tiny kitchen.

That's cheaper than ordering from a floral shop and the

"vase" is unique and long-lasting as part of the gift.

It cost only $5 and worth every cent.

DO YOU LIKE TO ATTEND TAG (YARD) SALES?

Enjoy your lovely vase for as long as you can before you gift it to someone. I do not go to any yard sales . I am not a shopper even at regular stores. Have a good day today and maybe you will find something else you consider beautiful to share.

That's pretty and a bargain. The History Channels Pawn Stars show featured a fellow that brought in an old book by a famous author he paid $2 for, ended up a collectable worth thousands. Another of those mystery series they show featured a golden jeweled egg bought at a flea market for the market weight of $13,000...later turned out to be a Faberge egg worth $33 million! You might want to research some of your bargains, they might be treasure.

Hi Susan,
I discovered tag sales at a church when I visited Boston friends years ago. It was so much fun. We have church basement sales, but this one was on the lawn, and everyone was so friendly. That vase could be worth something. It IS pretty.

We don't have such sales here, we have fairs and markets where people bring old things to sell. Every town has a specific day when these fairs are held, in my town it's Thursday and in the neighboring town it's Tuesday. Kind regards, Jasna
