As soon as the first sign of spring shows up around here, off come the burgundy bed linens. They are replaced with soft, white fitted and top sheets, a white matalasse coverlet, two European pillows and mounds of crocheted and embroidered pillows, all also in white.
The bed looks refreshing and cool to the touch during hot summer nights. Overhead, an overhead casa blanca fan whirls the air around. It's not as effective as an air-conditioner but it's quieter.
Virtually all of the pillows cases on the bed came from yard and estate sales. They get a thorough washing and gentle bleaching each year. If additional pillow cases can be found, they, too, are added.
One of my sisters gave us a very expensive set of white sheets several years ago. They are still the most comfortable sheets I've ever slept on and I hope so much they last for decades. Since they are very good quality, there's no reason why they can't keep making the bed feel like a cloud.
When the sheets are freshly washed and dried, they feel like silk to the touch. It's so comforting to sleep under them when one is tired.
Fortunately, I could never identify with ads on tv for sleep medications. When I put my head on the pillow at night, I'm out like a light, sleep through the night as soundly as a Redwood tree, and before you know it, "boing," it's morning and time to start the day!
DO YOU CHANGE YOUR BEDROOM COLOR SCHEME EACH NEW SEASON?
I Love your white bed!! I do like to lighten up the bed in the summer. It's so hot here that it's a must!!!
ReplyDeleteOh! Your bedding is beautiful and inviting!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous bedding!

You do have gorgeous bedding there. White is always cool. I have two colors, but they are not by seasons. I love the big thread count - do you? Sandie
ReplyDeleteYour bedding is beautiful!! I keep light sheets and linens on all the time, I live in SC so no need for heavy linens
ReplyDeleteLove the white linens and pillows. I put a white coverlet on our bed during the summer and change the pillows up a bit. My husband didn't like it at first, but as with everything, he gets used to it. During the winter months (not that we have much of one) I put on our elephant blanket from India. Much darker tones for the cooler months (wish those would come sooner this year). Hope you are having a super Saturday! :) Tammy
ReplyDeleteNo. I'm lucky if I can make my bed! babs
ReplyDeleteOh your bed looks so inviting!
ReplyDeleteIn winter I add a patchwork quilt my mother made for us, but otherwise any clean linens feel good to me!
I'm inspired. Off to bed now!
Hi: I just love how your bed looks. It is so beautiful, so inviting. Thank you so much for sharing. Blessings, Martha
ReplyDeleteOh, that is so pretty and inviting!! No, I don't really change my bed coverings very much. I just may have to rethink all that, now, though! Wish I would've seen this at the beginning of summer!
ReplyDeleteWith Lucas and Mateo around, it's virtually impossible to have white bedding at home. Not because they are dirty doggies (they are showered weekly, and I'm sure to keep them clean and decent), but they are bed puppies, as in they are allow to go up the beds (Lucas sleeps with me actually), which I have learned is something not many people like. But I'm like that, and having white (even if they are clean puppies) or anything crocheted, is a very bad idea. I do try to go with the season though: if it's summer, there will be light blues and yellows. If it is Christmas there will be something red, and so on.
ReplyDeletelovely bedding! it does look inviting.
have a lovely day!
Oh, Susan, you know how I love white!!! Very pretty! I don't change my bed coverings for seasons just when I redecorate. Sheets are always white :)
