The Reason for the Season: SUNDAY, December 5, 2010

The holidays will soon be here.
The time we’re ‘sposed to brim with cheer.

Twinkling lights and stunning tree
Cards and gifts for all to see.

Sweets and drinks and chips with dips
Scrooge, please spare expanding hips.

Amidst the flurry of the season
We must contemplate the reason.

A baby in a bed of hay
Changed the world from where he lay.

Sweet Baby Jesus is the reason
For this most sweet, amazing season

Hope yours is blessed to the very brim
But please remember to think of Him.

  1. Baby Jesus born tonight
Bless us all with your holy light
You were born to keep us free
A shining star atop the Christmas tree.
    Angel choirs announced your birth
Please bring us all peace on earth!

  4. How nicely put, Susan. It does seem that the meaning of Christmas is lost so much of the time. I love Advent, that feeling of expectation, of preparing. I like the whole month, not just Christmas Day. A friend told me once that during December the angels are the closest to the earth and it does feel like people I have lost are more "with me"--or I with them.
    Have a good Sunday!
