One of the most fascinating hobbies in the whole world is doll houses and miniatures. It's also majorly addictive which I found out many years ago. A single tiny item leads to another and another and so on.
Take my four poster bed. Now this has been on my "want" list for several years. Unfortunately, the economy and the demise of my full time job a couple of years ago have made it virtually impossible to buy. Four poster beds, the kind I want, are e-x-p-e-n-s-i-v-e.
Wouldn't you know, while sorting through some of the boxes of miniatures in the attic, I came across something that had been long forgotten----a four poster bed!
So, now I have one. While I cannot climb under the shiny bedspread to take a nap, I can feast my eyes on the little posters, pleated bed skirt, and fancy headboards.
That's it in a nutshell. Today's simple pleasure is a sweet little four poster bed!
DO YOU LIKE DOLL HOUSES AND MINIATURES?
I think any hobby is majorly addictive! I enjoy your doll house post so very much!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cool way to look at things! What you can't have for your big house, you can have for your little one. I absolutely love this idea.
ReplyDeleteI love reading about your dolls and doll furniture. I can tell they give pleasure. The little bed is just wonderful.

How adorable is that? I agree with my sis (Gayle), it is a fascinating hobby. You'll have to show us more. Great post!
ReplyDeleteThis brings back memories. I used to have a doll house that my dad built. It was a wooden shelf (so I had a 4 or 5 story house) and I remember drawing all the lines on in pencil to make tessellated floors and then staining and polishing it all.
ReplyDeleteYou know I LOVE miniatures!! I have a 4 poster bed in my doll house's Master bedroom. I have to make some " linens " for it. I have a crocheted doily over the bed and it looks like a crocheted bedspread.
ReplyDeleteLove the dust ruffle.
Hugs,
Debbie
my daughter and I both love this...and so glad you found a four poster bed you wanted. Too cute...
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! Reminds me of one of my favourites books from childhood - The Borrowers. They were a tiny little family and I loved reading about their minature furniture made of intriguing objects :-)

What a beautiful bed! The wish came true for you...in a "mini" kind of way :o)
ReplyDeleteI love dolls, but never had a doll house. I saw one back in November, but all I thought about was that I should get it for my little niece. Maybe when she gets older. And maybe I should get one for myself! :o) The child within should never disappear, right?
have a lovely day!
I do love miniatures. My girls have a doll house that their grandfather made them and enjoyed furnishing it with miniatures for years.
ReplyDeleteWhen I first saw this thumbnail, I thought it was a life sized one. What a nice surprise!
How good you are -- to find joy in what you have, even if it just comes in a smaller size.
ReplyDeleteYou've been a doll lover since you were a little girl...so enjoy your miniature doll houses and your doll collection too Susan!
ReplyDeleteI love doll's houses. I had one when I was little. Your four poster is so cute.
ReplyDeleteYour four poster is so cute. I love your attitude!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love doll houses and anything in miniature! All things in diminutive size is just so cute! The four poster bed is beautiful! And much quicker to make up that a real life-size one ;)
ReplyDeleteThe story about your friends dolls was so sad. It's pretty bad to break into someones home but to purposely destroy something that obviously is so special is impossible to understand. She had such a great attitude to go to work repairing each doll head. Good for her!
Gosh I wish I knew you a few years ago when I was looking for someone who loved dollhouses!
ReplyDeleteNice hobby and expensive.
