It's true that man (or woman) does not live by bread, alone.
But good quality bread in a nice variety of textures and flavors adds to the simple pleasure of life.
How would you like some fresh Italian bread, still warm from the oven, spread with unsalted butter? Mmmm mmmm.
A thick piece of homemade oatmeal bread might be nice with butter and orange blossom honey and a cup of hot raspberry tea!
Do you prefer sweeter bread? Okay, let's consider a little slice of fresh date nut bread with a thin layer of cream cheese. Oh! You prefer banana bread? Remember to add some big fat walnuts to it.
So that's today's simple pleasure. Anyone for a slice of bread right now?

ReplyDeleteRomantic Dinner
You have motivated me to dust off my bread machine.
ReplyDeleteDearest Susan,
ReplyDeleteOkay, for bread there is no better country to live than Germany or Austria! The heavy, dark bread is heaven. I miss that but at Costco's they have some good bread too and at Whole Foods.
Have a look at my post than you understand things better too. I took it up as a duty to educate more since you asked me yesterday about my website. That taught me that people must be missing my hyperlinks all together. Thanks for speaking (writing!) up! One written note speaks for several others who did not speak up...
Lots of love,
Mariette
my favourite bread is a fresh crusty dinner roll with butter. Thanks for asking
ReplyDeleteGod Bless
Barb from Australia

ReplyDeleteI confess, bread is a comfort food of mine! Pumpkin bread is a favorite of mine.
ReplyDeleteYou nailed this one! Oh, so yummy!!!
ReplyDeleteHi Susan, I do love bread. Especially at the restaurants when they bring warm baskets of it just like your picture. yummmm.
ReplyDelete*hugs*
You are so right...now I am going to go and bake bread, while still iced/snowed in...thanks for sharing, I can just taste it...good simple pleasure
ReplyDeleteI love bread. I can pass easier (not entirely though) on cakes and pies before bread. My idea of ambroisa is steaming hot tea and toasted sour dough with maybe a slathering of peanut butter.
ReplyDeleteOh .......... you have made me want some bread all of yours sounds so yummy !!
ReplyDeleteSour dough dipped in some garlicky evo, please.
ReplyDeleteAnd re. the cereal--it's a hot cereal, Susan. If you like oatmeal, I highly recommend it - nice for convenience & single-sized servings...and it seems better than the other "instant" kinds. Seems more fibery-y....
The only thing about Big Lots is that (at least here) you never know if and what they'll have....
I'll take the Italian bread, please. :) They all sound wonderful!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Karen
I like ALL bread! Warm bread with butter and yes, I do like all of the sweet breads too :)
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness Susan - I hate to admit my weakness - but it is bread. This looks so good. Warm and with butter - delish.
