Breakfast!
It’s a favorite meal of many people (including moi.) It’s so much fun to put together, too.
If there’s no spring to be found outside where one lives, one can create spring inside by putting a sky blue tablecloth and flowered yellow placemats on the kitchen table, along with flower covered plates.
Here is a recently made breakfast meal:
Fat sausage links sizzled in one pan. In another large frying pan, I sprinkled what Rachel Ray would call EVOO (extra virgin olive oil) and added onions, red peppers, mushrooms, all finely chopped, and potatoes cut into small cubes.
Just as guests arrived, I whipped up large brown eggs with some half and half and poured them on top of the cooked veggies. Added some spinach leaves and thin slices of sharp cheddar cheese. Folded over the egg mixture in the pan to make an omlette. Added pepper and a sprinkle of the spice mixture called “Adobo,” frequently used in Puerto Rican cooking.
On the table, the omlettes and sausages joined a plate of orange slices and strawberries as well as some sugared cherries from Germany (purchased at Trader Joe’s.)
Only one way to describe this breakfast, namely, “yumma dum dum and a mmm mmm mmm.”
There are no photos to show of the omlettes because everyone just dug right in and ate them up!
WHAT IS YOUR ALL TIME FAVORITE BREAKFAST?
Damn! Now I am hungry. I love sausage, biscuits and gravy and I love omlettes too. I can even really get into a nice bowl of oatmeal. But my new, recent favorite is Eggs Benidict. Total yum.
ReplyDeleteWish I could think I was getting up tomorrow morning to this! But guess I will settle for my pot of tea and flax/bran/orange peel muffin!
ReplyDeleteCold today here, so much for spring! Going to drop colder tonight. Oh well....
My favorite breakfast, cold pizza, or blueberry pancakes and bacon.
ReplyDeleteLove those Blue Ridge plates! I love eggs for breakfast....I guess a yummy cheese and bacon omelet!
ReplyDeleteNow THAT would be breakfast! Right now, a bowl of oatmeal with a few raisins, brown sugar & walnuts is kind of our everyday breakfast...
ReplyDeleteOh, I DO love waffles, too - especially Belgium waffles. (I don't make them though.)
Dearest Susan,
ReplyDeleteLooks great and I would love to join, except for the saucages and the eggs. Instead I do use the Egg Beaters that have no cholesterol and it works well for omelets and such. I agree with Rebecca for adding Belgian waffle with the fruits you put out there. Yummy and indeed it creates a spring-like look, the way you set your table.
Have a great Sunday and lots of love,
Mariette
A good breakfast starts your day off on the right foot. Loved everything you served. Yum is an understatement.
ReplyDeleteI love breakfast! Biscuits, eggs, bacon, grits, tomato gravy, black coffee, the works.
ReplyDeleteOh Susan - that looked so wonderful - I loved everything you served. My favorite and it is a new idea - was the veggies and eggs. I never thought of that.
ReplyDeleteHope everyone enjoyed it as much as I did just from seeing the pictures.
Wonderful.
Sandie♥
Black beans are pretty much a food group here in Guatemala, and something I adore in every breakfast meal!, which I get to have only on weekends. Week days, it's fruit and juice only. Another favorite: pancakes!, but only when I'm on trips or out eating.
