Multi-Talented Artist: Candace R. Silver

Candace R. Silver is a multi-talented artist who has many mixed media works displayed in the Shelburne Arts Co-op in Shelburne Falls, Massachusetts.

She fashions dolls, does photographic notecards, watercolors, and other kinds of art, as well! All of Candace's art excels, no matter what she is creating.

All of the photos shown in today's post are works by Candace.  Her floral images are on cards in the Co-op.

On a day we visited there, we were lucky to find her "manning" the store. Personable and welcoming, she was more than happy to show us some of the works of art created by her hands.

Candace is part Apache, Blackfoot and Cherokee Indian. Those cultures show up in some of her work such as a piece that has a  snapping turtle shell bottom, rabbit fur lining, and a rattlesnake rattle hanging over all. She calls this piece Snake Rattle Lullaby.

She also fashioned Foresta Donna, or forest woman, a very unique doll whose vest is made from pheasant feathers. She even has a beaded necklace and long "leather" boots with more feathers.  Here is Foresta Donna with the artist:

Candace happens to be a talented photographer and some of her images are captured on notecards for sale in the shop. Some of these are of flowers from her own garden.

The work of more than 70 artists can be found at the Shelburne Arts Co-Op. It's a great place to go shopping for a gift, either for a friend, relative, or one's self!

DO YOU HAVE AN ARTISTS' COOPERATIVE WHERE YOU LIVE?

  1. I don't but wish I did. I think it is cool you could talk with the artist and not just see her work.

  5. Wow Susan! It sure seems like there is a lot on offer in your area. Of course, there is no artists co-op around here. You always have something interesting and unique to share. Hope you are having a good day. Tammy

  7. Great photos! We have an art gallery in town and I think they welcome all sorts of artists. My daughter's been there but I've yet to stop by. I need to put that on my to-do list! Thanks for sharing, Susan! :)
    Blessings,
    Karen
