Mother Nature Soothes the Soul

(A pastoral scene in Western Massachusetts.)

Whenever I'm sad or depressed, anxious or worried, the best thing to do is to take action and spend time outdoors.

There's no use in mulling over the same problem or source of irritation or sadness.  For me, spending some time outside always does the trick. Mother Nature, like many mothers, soothes and calms.  After some time spent in silence, observing the beauty around me, things usually look a lot better.

Recently, to nip in the bud a feeling of hopelessness and fear, taking action required going out into the backyard and laying back on the lounge chair. I looked upward and this is what I saw:

Stretching my neck a bit, I scanned a leafy canopy that had been around for hundreds of years. Its  beauty startled.  Take a look and see if you agree.

Who could remain sad when viewing such splendor?

Who, but our Creator, could have made such incredible gifts for humans?

DO YOU RELY ON MOTHER NATURE TO HELP YOU FEEL BETTER?

  1. Hope your mood stays lifted. Yes, outdoors can help...if it is pretty and quiet and refreshing air. Went out in the heat today and even that was lifting a little as we saw freshly baled hay (beauty of its own) and another tractor raking in to rows down the road.

  3. All the time - I think about the flowers people post and the birds people post and your posts - God gives us eye candy for the soul - there is no greater artist then Him.
