Hot Day Respite

Life is full of great surprises.

Sometimes, when we least expect it, something wonderful happens. On those sweet occasions, precious  memories are made. They can be recalled when the going, once again, gets rough.

During this intense heat wave we are all surviving, we received a pleasant phone call.  Dear friends invited us to drive about an hour away to New York State to spend a day at their picturesque lakeside camp!

The invitation on one of the summer's hottest days called for immediate action. We finished breakfast, locked up the house, left food for Honey Cat, got into the car, and took off.

We stopped at a market to pick up some fresh peaches and cherries, paper towels, and nice quality napkins.  It's important to bring even a small offering to thank the hosts for their hospitality.

Once we reached our destination, we took a fabulous motor boat ride on the lake and the spray of water into my face as we splashed across the surface make me laugh like a little girl. It was wonderfully refreshing.

Later, we bobbed in the water on big inner tubes and then swam to our hearts' content.

For lunch, we had delicious cheeseburgers from the grill, pickles, salad, and potato chips and everything tasted so delicious.

By late afternoon, we thanked our gracious hosts with all our hearts and said goodbye.  I got a lot of sun so look a little bit like a lobster but the fun we had all day long was worth it.

ARE YOU STORING UP GOOD MEMORIES THIS SUMMER?

  3. Yea for you! What a wonderfully refreshing, relaxing day! I love Upstate New York and have been there many times to visit with friends. Last summer we spent the day at the lake house my friend rented -- her 5 kids, my 2 and another friend's 3 boys. The kids had the time of their lives canoeing, paddle boating, swimming! Have a great weekend. Tammy
