Today we are joining Metamorphosis Monday, once again, on Susan's blog "Between Naps on the Porch."
The story of how our backyard fountain came to be can be found here. Today, however, I want to show you progress we have made in making the fountain more beautiful.
This project followed the usual procedure. That is, I have a plan, buy the materials, and hubs then takes over. He did a great job, too.
Since the fountain is located in a kind of shady spot, under a pine tree, I figured impatiens all around it would be the best bet. Bought them in deep pink and white. Do you like them?
The fountain's water gets changed frequently, to discourage mosquitoes. Also, a few drops of bleach keep it sparkling.
I love this fountain. Sitting in the backyard is so nice now. I plug it in and dream away for a few precious, calming moments.
So that's my metamorphosis for today!
DO YOU LIKE THE SOUND OF A FOUNTAIN?
This is a lovely spot! Bleach is an idea...but how do you keep birds from drinking from it? We have bird baths and the birds use them a lot, which means they don't sparkle! At the other of the deck is a very small (wooden!) fountain where hubby said this morning he saw a robin drink and then turn around, back up and stuck his bottom under the falling water!
ReplyDeleteA very pretty fountain -- love a fountain in a garden.
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job on your fountain - never thought about the bleach - I used to have s small one for sound in the house - don't know where it is now - lol. I love there sounds...
ReplyDeleteYour fountain looks great. I love the sound of water, ocean waves ... in fact, any constant humming sound is peaceful and soothing to me. Have a beautiful day. Tammy
ReplyDeleteSuper lovely area! I have a small fountain in our equally small pond and the trickling sound of the water does sound so nice.
ReplyDeleteLove your fountain! It is looking so pretty and a peaceful place to relax!
ReplyDeleteFountains are so nice to have. We had one in our last backyard. Similar to yours, but a large basin on the ground. Had to refill it several times a day, do to splashing. The next owners let it run dry and the pump burned up. They are not DIYers so I'm sure they have never replaced. Such a shame.

I love fountains and your's is beautiful, especially with the plantings you added around it. I have a small fountain that I set up each time we stay in an area for an extended amount of time (I also add a drop of bleach to mine.) Love the sound of water.

ReplyDeleteI love the sound of a fountain. We are hoping to add one to our yard someday. Yours is wonderful. hugs, Linda
