Trip to Trader Joe's

One of the best parts of  a recent day was a trip to Trader Joe's.

For anyone unfamiliar with old Trader Joe's, the best way to describe it is that it's like an international supermarket. They have all kinds of different food items as well as more well known staples.

Most people who frequent Trader Joe's have specific items they buy there. I've been known to travel to the store for one of mine, namely, frozen orange chicken. It's so delicious and is a snap to prepare. Just heat a little oil and fry the lightly breaded chicken pieces. In the meantime, you soften the packet of spicy sauce and pour it over the cooked chicken. Add some green onion, if desired. I always serve it with rice. Yum. Yum.

Also on my Trader Joe's shopping list is cereal with small squares of shredded wheat. It' s delicious, has nothing added to it, and is cheaper than in a supermarket.

Whenever I go to an Indian restaurant, I always order  a yogurt drink called "lassi."  Imagine my delight in finding bottled lassi at Trader Joe's. It tasted soooo good but you do have to like yogurt.

A non-food item I always get at Trader Joe's is aerosol spray for the bathroom. It's  made from oranges and, as the small can it comes in indicates, it's good for 2000 sprays. Now think about that. That's a lot of spray power in a small can. Smells very nice and citrusy, too.

We have to drive an hour to get to a Trader Joe's but always make the best of our trips there.  Whenever someone asks me to accompany them there, I'll almost always say, "Yippee. Let's go."

By the way, I'm not pushing Trader Joe's product for payment of any kind nor am I telling you to go there and buy anything.

Just sharing my faves from that super duper store that I just love.

DO YOU HAVE A TRADER JOE'S WITHIN DRIVING DISTANCE?

  1. I have THREE Trader Joe's within 30 minutes! I love them. I haven't tried that orange chicken yet - but now I am going too - I have seen it.

They have small peanut butter cups with dark chocolate to die for!

  2. I absolutely LOVE Trader Joe's and have three within a very short distance from my house. I go there at least once or twice a month. I love their frozen items...their ready made salads( try their potato salad) and just about the best place to buy fresh flowers cheaply. Yay Trader Joe's!

  6. Hi Susan!

I LOVE Trader Joes! We have a couple near us and one is only 5 minutes away :-)
My very favorite item to order when we go out for Oriental food is the Orange Beef and I am so going to try Joes orange chicken!
There are so many things I get when I'm there but its the big chunks of white chocolate that never fails to come home with me.
Need to go to Joes today . . . .

    Yum,
    Lynn

  7. Hi Susan,

I am fortunate to be in LA, the birthplace of TJs. And I love mine in Silver Lake. However, there is an issue with traffic and parking, and it may amuse you to read a post I created after a particularly grueling trip.
