Gratitude

If this little turquoise bird family represents bluebirds of happiness, then we are in pretty good shape around here.

They are marching across a ledge in one of our windows.

Believe it or not, these little birdies came into this house at all separate times and prices. All came primarily from estate and yard sales.

On this bright and beautiful Sunday, it would be good to pause and just reflect on how much abundance and goodness we have in our lives. We have so much to be thankful for.

This stained "glass" window is one thing I'll be forever grateful for. One of my sisters made the bottom and my daughter fashioned the colorful glass-piece studded top.

As has been written so many times before on this blog, the gift of sight is among our most precious. Every time a person with a white walking stick, taps his or her way down the street, it's a reminder of how immensely blessed I am to have been given sight.

Seeing even the smallest things, like my shabby chic birdie house, is a something to be thankful for. One of my sisters painted it.

I like to think of the little feathered friends who will be returning soon with their sweet, early morning songs.

A quick glance at the four-inch vase below always makes me smile. Tiny rainbows form on the vase when the sun hits it.

Even though it's cold outside today, the sun is forecast to shine brightly all day long.

Plus, we have an extra hour today! Wow, see what I mean when I say there are so many things to be thankful for?

BESIDES FAMILY AND FRIENDS, WHAT IS ONE SMALL THING YOU ARE THANKFUL FOR TODAY?

  1. What a sweet post! First of all I love those blue birds and I have several myself and they make me smile. I am thankful for the beautiful flowers blooming in my yard. It reminds me each year that life has seasons and we should enjoy each season as it comes. Hugs, Linda

  2. That I am finally starting to feel better!
After 6 weeks of this IBS, something is apparently kicking in as I am able to eat more and not feel like there is a fist stuck in my left side. So for that I am truly grateful!!

    Hugs,
    Deb

  7. Such pretty blue birds perched on your window sash.
I too am thankful for the gift of sight. And for being able to hear the cooing of the dove just outside my window this very moment.
    Enjoy your evening.

  9. Susan, your little birds are always a joy to see. They make me smile. As you say, so much to be thankful for ...

But didn't we lose an hour? I sprang forward. Either way, still so much to be thankful for, amen. :)
