Hello Everybody!
I'm not going to tell you who it is because it's a surprise.
But it's someone who is the epitome of kindness and generosity. She also has immense talent!
I hope you'll stop by tomorrow and have a great day today! And now for today's post!
They make splendid collections as well as gifts.
Around here, glass paperweights are among my favorite collections.
If interested, another post on the paperweights can be found here: .http://writingstraightfromtheheart.blogspot.com/2010/02/art-forms-in-glass.html
Since it's a good idea to rotate collections, it was a perfect delight to find the glass paperweights once again.
They had been packed away in a box and stored in the attic.
So this time, the paperweights are being kept on a round shelving unit in the "necessary" room.
My favorite is this one, with the pink flower inside, probably because my favorite color is pink.
This red rose in a heart-shaped weight, shown below, is pretty, too, don't you think?
The glass birdie is surrounded by colorful art forms encased in glass.
Isn't the turquoise creation, shown below, an eye-catcher?
For the most part, I have stopped adding to my many collections because, well, enough is enough and that includes the paperweights.
Unless, of course, some time and some place I see one that absolutely screamed out to join the others....
WHAT IS A FAVORITE COLLECTION OF YOURS?
I'm in awe of your collection--true beauties! My favorite collection is my wooden spools; started by finding two in my Grandmother's attic and now I have 26. Also, my tea cups that were started with my Dad bringing back two from Japan after the war for my mother. She passed them down to me and I've added many, many more. Collections say a lot about us and for me, shows me where I come from. Lovely post, dear friend, XOXO
ReplyDeleteOh you reminded me how beautiful paper weights can be, that turquoise one is fabulous.
ReplyDeleteI have a collection of wooden nutcrackers, very varied. One is of Pinochio and was painted by a friend.
Do my books count as a collection? I think so.
I have several magnets from different places all around the world..I have several music boxes and that is the end of any collections in my house. The paperweights are very very pretty Susan.
ReplyDeleteHi Susan,
ReplyDeleteOne of my daughters collects glass paperweights like yours...they truly are works of art.
For myself, I collect owls, ornamental shoes and small perfume bottles...to name a few of my collections. Like you, I put some away and then rotate them.
Have a good day
Barb
The paperweights are gorgeous! I have never seen such pretty ones! I probably have several "collections.":) I really enjoy my Susan Branch designed items the most.
ReplyDeleteHave a good Wednesday! xo Nellie
These are beauties! Know what my paper weights are? Favorite and distinctive rocks! :)
ReplyDeleteThey are lovely. I have lots of collections. And my collections collect dust. :) Best wishes, Tammy
ReplyDeleteVery pretty. I guess you could say that I collect names and information for my family tree.
ReplyDeleteThe paperweights are very pretty, I have one, I'm not really a collector of anything but do seem to have many things that I wouldn't part with, they all have stories behind them
ReplyDeleteMerle......
I also think your paperweights are beautiful and distinctive! For myself, I have collected bells sporadically for a few years, and have a great variety of them, all of which do seem to collect dust, as one of your other followers mentioned! The interesting thing to me is that no two of them sound exactly alike, and they all sound happy!
ReplyDeleteAwesome paper weights. I knew a lady once that had a collection of them on a glass shelving unit with lights on them...it was absolutely beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThese are all so pretty!
ReplyDeleteThose are beautiful paper weights Susan - every thing you have is beautiful. I have been reading backwards and I know your guest! MO!
ReplyDeleteThese are some amazing looking paperweights. Looking forward to buy one..!!
