Guest Book Memories


Okay, blog peeps.

 Have I got a couple questions for you.

Every  time we have stayed at a bed and breakfast establishment, I have loved leafing through the guest book that's usually on a table by the bed.

 "What a great idea to have  a guest book at home,"  I said one day.

That was the beginning of a love/hate relationship among guests and the guest book.

 I've kept guest books for several years now and have a couple that are filled to the brim.

The current guest book is so pretty as it's covered with pink roses.

 Some people love signing it. Some people hate signing it.

 Some  people who've been to our house for dinner many times actually groan when the guest book comes out. 

 Some relish writing their messages in rhyme.

 Honestly, it's so much fun to look back and see what event was celebrated and who came.

Some past signers are now on the other side and I love remembering the happy times.

I've occasionally added menu items and a few  photos, too.

So here are my questions for you.

    Hi Susan, this is kind of funny to me as just this past weekend (thanksgiving here) I was thinking about having my guests write in my guest book and I didn't pull it out.I felt like they may feel like "a number" of sorts. I guess I'm with you..not sure how I feel about them. I think a bed and breakfast is the place for one though...happy entertaining!Lucy~

    I set out a book at Christmas time for our guests/family to sign. However, some people don't always follow through.:)

    My sister is following your blog, Susan, and I thought of her when I saw the roses on your guest book. She has a real liking for roses!

    I don't keep a guest book now, but I have in the past. It is really fun to go through it and remember who was there and what we did. I should start a new one for the present --- but I too often forget to have it signed in the midst of my hostessing duties.

    Susan, I am Nellie's sister, and for some reason Blogger has not allowed me to change my ID! Perhaps it prefers to keep me mysterious! I do not blog, but I do follow a few folks who have interesting things to say on a variety of topics.

    I have never felt offended by being asked to sign a guest book, as I can see the importance of having such a keepsake for future occasions. At Nellie's house, I usually don't even think about it, but perhaps I should make a greater effort! That way, if the silverware goes missing, she'll know who was there at the time! LOL

    I hadn't thought of having a guest book for our company - I think it's a great idea! If guests don't wish to sign, that's okay, or if they wish to simply just pen a signature. It's just nice to have a little memento of when they stopped by. :)
