How Sweet It Is

Chilly fall  days get warmed up fast when something good is baking.

It's so comforting to warm up the house by clicking on the oven, popping something inside and then filling the house with the scent of baking.

Unfortunately, ingesting baked goods is not conducive to keeping calorie counts down. Way down, like in trying to lose weight instead of gain.

Here's a good idea.

I baked some carrot cupcakes with homemade butter cream frosting and then gave them to someone who loves anything with carrots.

Plus, he can afford the calories.

The house smelled great.

The oven warmed up the kitchen and the carrot cupcake recipient was happy.

I ate one cupcake, and one only. It tasted delicious.

The rest of every last crumb moved out of the house quickly.

End of carrot cupcake story.

CAN YOU BAKE AND THEN NOT EAT WHAT YOU'VE BAKED?

  1. Carrot cake is my oldest daughter's favorite and I can just smell how wonderful these are. How fall-like!

  2. Oh boy do those carrot cake cupcakes look delicious! When I bake, leftovers always head to the freezer where one is less tempted to indulge. I cut to serving size so individual pieces can be packed for work snacks or brought out as needed.

  3. Oh, my! Carrot cupcakes! How delectable they seem!

Well, sometimes I have difficulty not eating what I have baked, and I definitely don't need to eat it!:) It is good to have someone else to be the recipient of what I have baked.:) Today it was a chocolate cake that will be dessert for the adult day care at our church tomorrow.

  4. I love carrot cake. If I made it, I would probably have to sample it. :) There are few things I can bake and not eat, like banana bread - don't care for that much, so I make it for hubby.

    Have a great week,
    Karen

  9. No :) ha ha,but I do try hard and as I bake a lot I have to be very strong. I find I treat myself to a little something at 8.30 at night with my last cup of Tulsi tea of the day. This way I know I have this little treat to look forward to,rather than munching off and on all day. your little cakes look so yummy. xx

  10. Absolutely NOT. I will bake, eat two, one for each hip so I don't waddle lopsided, and then I will freeze half and share the rest. You have more willpower.

  11. It's very hard for me not to eat when I bake - but your solution is what I do when I absolutely can't ignore the urge.

I confess to being a HUGE frosting lover - and your 'cakes have me drooling!

  13. The only way I can keep from eating it is just to make it specifically for another person or group, such as a church dinner. Of course, you don't want to mess it up by taking a slice before everyone sees it! I do not enjoy making cupcakes--they just seem to take too much time and effort for me! Your sample here does look delectable, and I'm sure they were enjoyed greatly!

  14. Oh you just made me hungry! I love love to bake but hate to because we can't NOT eat what I bake. I made a cake for our anniversary last month and we both ate one piece, gave away two and threw the rest out before we pigged out!

  15. Yum! I can just smell them now! Hmmm...I really don't think I'd be able to give them all away without eating just one. I've definitely got a sweet tooth, especially for baked goods fresh out of the oven.

  18. I don't bake often because I can't stop eating until it is all gone! I love carrot cake so these would have called my name for sure! Now bake, eat one and send them somewhere else...that might work!! hugs, Linda

  19. In response to your question about not eating what you bake... are you kidding me?

Not eat any after you whip it up and then smell its fragrance as it wafts through the house?

But I don't each as much of it as I might have when I was younger. It doesn't 'pull' as it once did.

  20. I love to bake and then freeze it immediately which only helps a little not to eat it or SEND it out the door with someone!!
I bake a lot for my DD's friends. I have a fan club there, and they know they can eat whatever they find.

  21. Those look yummo! I always have to at least taste one of what I bake to make sure I can serve it to friends and co-workers. But often that may be the only taste I get if they go really fast, which happens a lot. :) Hugs, Tammy
