What would be the perfect cake for a little boy who loves football?
Well, a football-shaped cake, of course!
Actually, at a recent birthday "par-tay" for a six-year-old, there were two cakes.
One, shaped like a football, happened to be made from ice cream.
It accompanied the other cake, with candles on it, that he made wishes on and and blew out.
The six-year-old whose birthday was being celebrated opened all his gifts and seemed to be having a delightful time.
One of his gifts was a great big chocolate cookie with his name on it in colored frosting.
"Are you going to eat that cookie all by yourself or share it?" I asked the birthday boy.
He thought about my question for a couple of minutes and then, in a barely audible voice, said,
"Share it."
Good boy! Hope he has a wonderful new year of life!
HOW DO YOU THINK CHILDREN LEARN TO SHARE?
Wow, any child would love these cakes! I think children learn to share when they are taught early by word and by example. Sounds like the little boy is on the right track ;-)
ReplyDeleteOh, and we know where that big cookie came from, don't we??!? So happy he was willing to share, and those other cakes are making me drool.....messy on the keyboard! :-) Have a wonderful day, Susan!

What GREAT cakes~!~ I've never been able to decorate a cake I've been "proud" of myself, but I sure enjoy seeing the handiwork of other people :)
ReplyDeleteI've been "manning" the nursery in our little church during the Sunday School hour. It's been soooooooo interesting watching the children learn to share....Seems to take some encouragement from the adult & reassurance that "it will be OK".
I have always believed that children learn from the adults around them! It certainly does appear that this six-year old had a marvelous birthday!
ReplyDeleteSending wishes for a wonderful day!
