She does it with her collection of Department 56's New England Village pieces which she's been collecting since 1987.

She has the perfect place to create the village scenes with built-in shelves along an entire living room wall.
She even changes the scenes yearly and that takes a lot of creativity and imagination.
This year Sally she went online and found deep blue paper studded with stars.
She added the paper along the backs and sides of the shelves.
This really made the village scenes pop with beauty.
In a village farm scene, there's a lady milking a cow. She's squirting an amazingly thin stream of milk into a kitty's mouth. You can see it right below. Check out the nearby cow who's getting an eyeful!
Sally's collection has bears, beavers, chickens, deer, ducks, dogs, kitties, and even frisky little skunks!
There are so many wonderful scenes to look at, one could easily spend hours perusing the shelves in Sally's lovely home.
On some of the trees, there are tiny red cardinals and even a blue bird.

So cute! I think I'd hang a curtain over it and unveil each holdiay, rather than wrap and store these dainty darlings.
ReplyDeleteThe blue paper does really set the scene. Does she really take this down every year? Does she do a tree in addition to all this? I love her blue and whites as well.
ReplyDeleteI have heard of these collections and have seen many of them, but I do not have any of them. A dear friend has a wonderful collection, including a fire station and other items usually found in a real community, and she displays it all in such a way that it appears to be on a hillside, with a lovely home on the top of the hill! I love to look at them, but would not want to take it all down after doing so much work to put it up in the first place! Thank you for sharing this with us, and I'm very impressed!! :-)

ReplyDeleteI love these collections. I buy a new piece every year for my sister- in law and her collection has certainly grown. The best part is that the kids are enchanted with these little villages and really look forward to creating the display. I'm not big on the packing them away each year -- but I sure do enjoy going over and seeing the display!! Your friends collection is adorable and the photo work is great!!
