Pups for Baby

Baby showers are always fun because they are such happy events.

The only part of baby showers that I dislike is to see multiples of the same gifts given.

As a life-long non-conformist, I like to give unique gifts that are unlike others received.

A recent baby shower I attended was a very beautiful and well planned affair.

Everything was absolutely lovely from the table settings and food, to the glowingly happy mom-to-be.

For a gift, I found a little onesie that looked like a tuxedo, complete with bow tie!

I also found a sweet story book about love.

Since the mom-to-be loves doggies, it was thrilling to into an artisan's shop and find her a handmade quilt covered with pups .

I also found four doggie beanie babies, made little signs with messages to the baby, and attached them.

Here's a close up of one of the sweet pups:

Here he is again, with his ears out, listening to all the shower guests chatting.

The beanie pups jumped into the gift bag and drew lots of smiles.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE BABY SHOWER GIFT TO GIVE?

  1. Susan,
Love the idea of a onesie looking like a little tuxedo! And all these little puppies-very fun! One of my favorite gifts to give is Tigger!

  6. I am blessed to live very close to a Carter's outlet, so I usually go there for a gift for baby. The choice will vary, depending on the needs of the family, but there is lots to choose from there! I do love your pups!

  8. Hi Susan -

    Those puppies are adorable!

I usually like to chip in with a couple of other people and get one larger gift.

    Blessings,
    Susan :)

  9. I often like to drift toward the "impractical," like a precious, lacy, pink outfit if the baby is to be a girl, and something just as dressy if the baby is a boy. Then, to be sure I will not overlook something the mother-to-be really wants, I will check the registry at the local baby store.

Your gift sounds like such a neat one! Very clever to think of those dogs!

  11. Hi Susan

Love the puppy idea! Well since we are going to a shower this weekend it's fresh on my mind. Linda and I are going together on a gift to get her something bigger. We're getting the bedding set and a few clothes.

    It's a boy too - Harry!

  12. Well, you're just the most creative person I know and what an adorable baby gift. I haven't been to a baby shower in a long time, but if one comes up, this is an idea I might have to "borrow!" XOXO

  13. I usually give a gift card to their favorite store...either Baby Gap or Target something like that. I like practical things for babies as the parents can use so many things especially with their first baby.

  16. They are the sweet little fellows. Baby showers are not that popular here you go and visit the baby after mum and babe have been home for a while and take a gift and check out the the new babe.

  17. Susan, my favourite line in this post....
    "As a life-long non conformist"
I think I'm now going to refer to myself exactly that way from this way forward. It fits me perfectly!

    Cute puppies!

  18. So creative! I love all those pups with their welcome signs. My kids and I collected lots of beanie babies --- and still have them. They are like little friends.
