A Vermont Styled Rainbow

Mother Nature's rainbows always fascinate.

When we were kids, we'd run outside on the lawn and stretch our necks up to the sky to get a better view of a rainbow.

Throughout most of life, they would fade away almost as quickly as they surfaced.

At a recent overnight at the West Mountain Inn in Arlington, Vermont, we got an unforgettable extra dessert at dinnertime.

Rain pelted the windows of the old inn and it sounded kind of cozy.

Soon a rainbow appeared over the horizon.

It was huge and colorful.

I even left the dining room and went outside to photograph it.

It faded briefly and then, unbelievably, came back stronger and even more colorful.

It looked as if one could reach up and grab it!

It was literally the longest lasting  and most breathtaking rainbow of my entire life.

What a gift it was for our 39th wedding anniversary remembrance!

Just want to note that no compensation of any kind was given for this post on the inn nor do I have any connection except for being a happy former guest!

DO YOU BELIEVE RAINBOWS ARE SYMBOLS OF GOOD LUCK?

  1. Oh, I don't believe in "luck," but I DO believe that the rainbow is a symbol of God's promise to Noah that He would never again flood the WHOLE earth. I have two memorable rainbows: one day, as I was driving back from helping our daughter in another city, I passed through two rainbows at different locations on the Interstate. Both of them came right down and rested on the highway right in front of me, and it was such a blessing at the end of a long and tiring day! The other incident was as we were on our way to the funeral of a beloved gentleman who had been like a second father to me. As we drove into town during a storm, suddenly there was the most gorgeous rainbow I had even seen! I just started crying as I was driving, because it gave me such a feeling of God's presence, and it was as if the gentleman was saying that all was well. I do LOVE rainbows! :-)

  2. Just saw a picture of a double rainbow in a Boston rain this week...love rainbows. I look for them when the sun is out in a rain storm all the time...and sometimes I am lucky to see one. Beautiful picture of this one in Vermont...

  6. Rainbows are very special to me. I do not believe in luck. But I know in some of my most troubled times. God always gives me a rainbow as a symbol of his love and let me know that he is watching over me.

  10. Rainbows are wonderful to see; your pictures of the one in Vermont on your 39th anniversary are gorgeous.

My son sent me an email picture of the double rainbow in Boston that Diane spoke of. Last week I saw a rainbow sprout right out of the lake and arch over the water to the other side. I have never seen a rainbow so low down. It too, faded fast, but, like the Vermont rainbow, came back again, brighter than before. It was transparent and I could see the mountain range shimmering behind it. So mesmerizing.
