Dollhouse Miniatures Festival

(A beautiful fountain-in-miniature from Karen Aird's booth at the 2013 Sturbridge Dollhouse Miniatures Festival in Massachusetts.)

The world of dollhouse miniatures is fascinating and fun.

Literally thousands of people around the world engage in miniatures as their hobby.

Today, with the artist's permission, I'm going to introduce you to show you some terrific miniature items.

The creator of many of them is Karen Aird from New Jersey.

Just for the record, all the photos in today's post were taken at Karen's booth.

That's Karen behind the two umbrellas.

She was one of more than 75 dealers who sold items at the recent 2013 Sturbridge Dollhouse Miniatures Festival.

It's New England's largest show, held annually the weekend after Memorial Day.

The coordinator, Molly Cromwell, has been promoting these shows for the past 30 years. Check out her website at http://www.mollycromwell.com/shows.htm

Karen's website carries miniatures made by other artists, as well, and so many of the items are wonderfully and lovingly made.

Remember, most of these things are tiny replicas of the real items, which makes them even more incredible to look at.

She sells online, too, so that's great news for anyone wanting to buy items for their dollhouses or shadowboxes.

Her website is www.KarensDollhouse.com

Hope you enjoy these photos as much as I enjoyed taking them.

There will be more posts on the show, too, including one featuring summer foods that Karen carries, so if dollhouse miniatures interest you, stay tuned!

There will also be a post on the tiniest music box imaginable and its creator. Even more exciting is that it works!

Knott's Berry Farm has a house of miniatures and that's the only one I've ever been too. Haven't been there in several years though. I'm so glad you got to go since you have three dollhouses Susan!

Yes I have! And, we had the most wonderful shop, in San Juan Capistrano, California, that I used to get the best pieces for my sister. Her hubby built her a perfect dollhouse and it's been fun to help decorate it, XOXO

I have never been to a dollhouse or miniatures show. The closest I can think of is the little fairy houses we would build when I was a child. We would use pieces of sticks and leaves and of course flowers to make miniature homes that we thought the fairies would visit in the nite when we were sleeping. Enjoy your "minis".

In 1990, I visited the Art Museum in Chicago where, on the lower level, were displays of miniatures. Absolutely fascinating! Never have attended a festival, though. It would be fun to come to Sturbridge for that. We would have a good reason to visit the Publick House.:-)

A miniature Doll show must be one of the most fun places to visit! Everything looks so realistic!
