Dollhouse Miniatures Festival

(A beautiful fountain-in-miniature from Karen Aird's booth at the 2013 Sturbridge Dollhouse Miniatures Festival in Massachusetts.)

The world of dollhouse miniatures is fascinating and fun.

Literally thousands of people around the world engage in miniatures as their hobby.

Today, with the artist's permission, I'm going to introduce you to show you some terrific miniature items.

The creator of many of them is Karen Aird from New Jersey.

Just for the record, all the photos in today's post were taken at Karen's booth.

That's Karen behind the two umbrellas.

She was one of more than 75 dealers who sold items at the recent 2013 Sturbridge Dollhouse Miniatures Festival.

It's New England's largest show, held annually the weekend after Memorial Day.

The coordinator, Molly Cromwell, has been promoting these shows for the past 30 years. Check out her website at http://www.mollycromwell.com/shows.htm

Karen's website carries miniatures made by other artists, as well, and so many of the items are wonderfully and lovingly made.

Remember, most of these things are tiny replicas of the real items, which makes them even more incredible to look at.

She sells online, too, so that's great news for anyone wanting to buy items for their dollhouses or shadowboxes.

Her website is www.KarensDollhouse.com

Hope you enjoy these photos as much as I enjoyed taking them.

There will be more posts on the show, too, including one featuring summer foods that Karen carries, so if dollhouse miniatures interest you, stay tuned!

There will also be a post on the tiniest music box imaginable and its creator. Even more exciting is that it works!
