Luscious "Lobstah"

Among summer's treats in New England are lobster rolls.

In tourist towns and quiet burgs, signs featuring lobster rolls are popping up.

The rolls usually include succulent, sweet lobster mixed with mayonnaise, onions and celery.

Or, they can be ordered without mayo.

In that case, one gets lobster pieces tossed in melted butter  on a lightly buttered and toasted roll.

My daughter treated me to a lobster roll to celebrate the beginning of summer vacation from daily babysitting for my adorable granddaughter.

We ate at a restaurant overlooking a gorgeous lake.

Some places accompany lobster rolls with coleslaw and French fries or potato chips.

Whatever way they are served, lobster rolls are fabulous and reminiscent of summer in beautiful New England.

ARE YOU A FAN OF LOBSTER?

  2. Love, love, love lobster rolls...I'd like to munch that one that you took a picture of right now. That is one of the things I miss about living on the west coast instead of the east.

  5. Yum, yum , yum. I love lobster rolls also. Yours looked wonderful; bet you enjoyed it along with the beautiful New England scenery.

Your daughter is very sweet to treat you to such a nice lunch.

I usually wait for one of our summer trips to the ocean to order a lobster roll. The Pleasant View Inn in Misquamicut,RI serves a luscious one. Our trip is coming up in mid July. Can't wait for the trip and the lobster roll!

  7. Hello from Spain: I love lobster. The trouble is that in my country is a very expensive meal. In your photos it looks delicious. What tasty! How lucky your daughter has you to help care for the child. Keep in touch

Oh, this looks so delicious. How nice of your daughter to treat you. I LOVE LOBSTER! In fact, I was just telling someone that I was in the mood for lobster. I'm not much of a fish person, but lobster I love.

It sounds like you are enjoying the summer so far.

  10. Susan, what a view! I don't much care for seafood, but my Boston friends swear by lobster rolls. Maybe I'll have to give them a try.

  12. What an awesome daughter you have - but that does not surprise me at all - because you are the same way. I hate to admit this but I have never had lobster. I have to say it looked good and the scenery looked awesome!
