Tiny, Working Music Box for a Dollhouse

Every so often in life, one sees something that is so amazing, the memory of it will never really go away.

The 2013 Dollhouse Miniatures Festival in Sturbridge, Massachusetts, that I attended at the beginning of June featured more than 75 miniatures dealers, many of whom were talented artists themselves.

Two of these were Bill  and Barbara Studebaker of Rockland, Maine.

They were a dynamite duo, creating miniature items that would stop you in your tracks.

One of the items they carried that took my breath away was a tiny music box for a dollhouse.

Turn the handle and guess what?  It really worked.

That's Bill, shown above, holding one of his exquisite music boxes!

Their booth at the Sturbridge Festival was amazing.

Their website is:

He played a music box for me at the festival and I just stood there, transfixed.  Talk about enchanting!

Bill told me it takes about a week to make one tiny box.  It has working antique Swiss movement.

He's a master at his art and so is his wife.

He does restorations and commissions, too.

If you are interested, check out the Studebakers' website and get ready to sigh in pure delight.

DID YOU KNOW THERE COULD ACTUALLY BE A WORKING MUSIC BOX FOR A DOLLHOUSE?

Hello from Spain: I really like music boxes. They remind me of my childhood. I keep a box - jewelry box with music. Keep in touch

Susan,
You have given me exposure to miniature homes and such. I would have never imagined all of these intriguing furnishings and talent.
So, so very interesting.

Such teeny tiny things to create! I don't know how they have the patience. I would be all thumbs.
