Last, Lingering Days of Summer

Only a few more days left, folks, and the summer of 2013 will be history.

When I see farm stands filled with chrysanthemums and pumpkins, there's no denying fall's soon-to-be arrival.

While I prefer to stretch summer out as long as humanly possible, it's time to concede that it's almost kaput.

So I took down the pink rose wreath from the front door and hung the one my daughter made that's covered with autumn leaves.

This week, hubs and I took a ride to a Whitney's Farm Stand in Cheshire, Massachusetts.

It's a great place that's always well stocked with good quality merchandise.

We bought some veggies and yes, some mums.

Most photos in this post were snapped  at Whitney's with the exception of the little lambie, shown below.

She just happened to show up in our back yard. Can you imagine that?

(She's our darling little one-year-old granddaughter who steals our hearts every single day, regardless of the season.

We love it when her parents come to town to visit and let lambie spend time with Grammie.)

WHAT IS ONE THING YOU DO WITHOUT FAIL EVERY AUTUMN?

  1. Precious little "lambie!"

One thing we do every fall is journey to my Alma Mater for Homecoming! Always a great time! Since our three daughters also graduated from the same college, it is often like a family reunion.:-)

  2. I sing songs like " Autumn Leaves" and "September Song" and long for rain as it hasn't rained in months where I live.

  4. Susan,
Every Autumn we go to a place called Apple Hill where they have the most delicious apple goodies ever. We've been going there since the kids were small.

Your "little lamb" Granddaughter is precious.

    Love,

  7. First, your granddaughter is very cute especially in that lamb costume :) No wonder you as grandparents love her a lot!
Chrysanthemums are Autumn flower sin my native country too, and usually used for bringing on the first day of school.
I never fail to create some Autumn project, especially for Halloween (and of course, celebrate this holiday!)

  9. Your lambie is beautiful. At first I thought she was a porcelain doll, then I thought of Elizabeth Taylor as a baby. I know you will have so much fun with her this fall season.
