Pros and Cons of a Veggie Tray
When trying out new recipes, it's always a trial and error experience.
I brought a veggie tray and dip to my granddaughter's first birthday bash.
The steamed asparagus worked. Everybody dipped it and nibbled.
Celery and carrots? Good choices.
Small tomatoes? They were a pretty good selection.
Steamed cauliflower? BIG BOO BOO. Almost none of it was eaten and I thought steaming it a bit would make it more tasty that the hard, raw stuff.
Feta cheese dried tomato dippy? So so. (It was a Rachel Ray recipe. Sorry Rachel. Won't be making this one again.)
Anyhoo, that's the scoop on my veggie tray.
Isn't the little individual carrot cake my daughter made for her little girl adorable?
WHAT KIND OF DIP DO YOU SERVE WITH VEGGIES?
The veggie tray sure does look good! My kids like hummus a lot. Me not so much. I like cheese dips and salsa (not too hot). I also like raw cauliflower :)
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday to your dear granddaughter! Wow, her 1st birthday already!
Lovely tray of veggies. I don't serve them with a dip...so I've got nothing here. In fact, I don't really serve veggie trays, now that I think of it.
ReplyDeleteSo, a whole lot of nuthin' here.
I love veggie trays and I serve a sour cream dip. Love this idea, for the kids. Serving healthy is teaching healthy. Happy Fall.......

Well I love all those veggies except I don't like cauliflower much myself to tell you the truth. Your tray looked gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteYou are the hostess with the mostess. Love carrot cake.
I make a ranch dip.
Love, sandie
Your tray is very appealing, but I usually go for salsa and chips. Most dips have sour cream, which is a big no-no for me.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday to your granddaughter! She's getting a good start on eating healthy.
Love veggie trays!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday little one!! so much fun at the age of one!!
All looks good to me...esp. that asparagus! Have a good weekend, Susan.
ReplyDeleteHello from Spain: Happy birthday to your granddaughter. I like veggie trays. Keep in touch
ReplyDeleteI like my veggies cooked unless I'm eating them straight of the garden.
ReplyDeleteMerle....... ........... ........
I loved your veggie tray.
ReplyDeleteThe individual Carrot Cake was adorable. Decorations lovely too.
I like Lemon Humus from Whole Foods, and sometimes I make yogurt dip with Fage 2 percent yogurt and I add dill and salt and pepper.
ReplyDeleteI use Ranch Dressing for a dip and my grandkids scarf it up so fast with the carrots and celery sticks I serve them.
ReplyDeleteI always wonder what kind of dip to make for parties. I think the best one I've ever had is a baked clam dip which I didn't make. I like to make a hummus, or a spinach dip.
ReplyDeleteI love the Knorr Spinach dip for veggies. But also make the Hidden Valley Ranch dip for them too.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday to your sweet granddaughter!
