The Flowers of Fall

Every spring, people everywhere look forward to daffodils, hyacinths, tulips and other  harbingers of the season.

When the flowers of spring and summer start to get spindly and fade, it signals time for the fall replacements.

Fall flowers don't have as long a time to be enjoyed which, actually, make them even more special.

They are among the last hurrahs of autumn before the freezing temps and bone-chilling winds and and snows move in.

This year, I bought chrysanthemums and also received a couple of them for my birthday.

I found these at a local supermarket and fell in love with them.

They look like dyed daisies and are so perky and cute.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE FALL FLOWER?

  3. The happy little marigold is a treasure but mums are my favorite. They remind me of my grandma Mary who grew them in her garden.

  4. Those flowers look almost neon. Geraniums are still pretty in the fall.

  5. Mums are really pretty for the fall. I just wish ours would last long enough for me to cut my own for Thanksgiving, but they will fade long before then.

  7. Anything that grows is a favorite of mine. Went to the plant souk yesterday and bought tons of plants for our balconies. I got my hands dirty and was so very happy potting away. :) Best wishes, Tammy

  9. Hello from Spain: I really like chrysanthemums. In my town in autumn rains a lot and few flowers are born. Keep in touch

  10. Oh, mums. Hardy mums, of course. These really DO come back for me, year and year after year. They look to me to keep them from straggling, and some years I do it better than others...this year, not so much :)

  12. I love all kinds of flowers and I like yours there.

Here in GA - pansies grow all winter long - so they are my favorite winter flower.

  13. These pink flowers are gorgeous, Susan. The color is amazing. I was just at the supermarket today looking at the Fall flowers and didn't notice any that were speaking to me. I still have a few roses in my front yard that are blooming, so would have to say the roses are my favorite.

    Love,
    ~Sheri
