Dollhouse Decorating

The month of November is almost half gone.

Happily, around here, several Christmas gifts have been purchased, some have been wrapped and more have to be bought.

But all of the above is progress, compared to last year.

Because there is so much to do in the "big" house, it made sense to get the Christmas decorations for the "little house"  done early in the season.

Plus, all decorating has to be done in between working two part-time, very demanding jobs and running a household!

It felt funny to decorate the dollhouse before Thanksgiving.

However, this year I determined to enjoy the month of December instead of being stressed-out to the max and worked to the bone.

Decorating both the big and little house is always  joyful  yet it can also be daunting and require many hours of work.

This year's dollhouse once again has wreaths on each window.

I looked in my hubs' tool room for the smallest nails available and found them.

Last year, taped wreaths drove me to distraction as the wreaths kept falling off throughout the season.

There's also a new chair on the front porch where Santa left a big gift.

If you have any interest in seeing the inside of the dollhouse for the holidays, stay tuned.

It will be ready for viewing in a few days!

Here are photographs before and after decorating for Christmas!

(I swear no wine touched these lips before photographing these but they both look crooked.)

  2. My favorite decoration during Christmas season is my tree. I just love it...It is a small tree and easy to put together for me. I've many decorations but the lights stay on all year stored in the garage. I also love putting lights outside too.I have help with that now for which I'm very grateful! Enjoy your beautiful dollhouse!

  3. Your doll house is so charming, Susan. I love it - AND PINK! Grandpa made the girls a doll house when they were little, and when they were all grown up, I ended up giving it away, and I wish so much that I had kept it. All the little furniture in a doll house is soooo cute.

    Love,
    ~Sheri

  4. Hi Susan,
Your dollhouse is just beautiful! If I remember correctly that is the same house (and color) as my first house I bought at a thrift store 12 years ago and later traded it for the one I have now. Now I'm wishing I would have kept it!
I like the wreaths on the windows, I just bought wreaths at Hobby Lobby to have over my dollhouse windows.
Can't wait to see the interior decorating!
    Have fun!

  5. Hello from Spain: My favorite decoration is the Christmas tree and the Nativity scene with baby Jesus. I really like your dollhouse. I have a house very similar to yours. You do a great job of decorating with small house. I really like the gift to Santa Claus. I'm looking forward to seeing more ... keep in touch

  6. This brings back such memories of helping my mother decorate the doll house she and my grandfather built. The holidays are fast approaching, but your scene looks so serene and inviting, XOXO

  7. What fun to decorate your dollhouse for Christmas! You are smart to try to get it done before we turn the calendar to December. Don't you wish you could have several of
Santa's helpers to help with the decorating? I do.

It's hard to say what my favorite decoration is; I so enjoy our real tree and also the candles I put in all the windows. If I could only have 2 decorations those would be the ones I would choose. I do have another tree (not real) that I put up in the family room with all different birds on it. I only use natural decorations like pine cones and dried flowers along with the birds and only white lights; I can see the tree from the kitchen and so can enjoy it while I'm making supper. Add some Christmas music and you have pure bliss!

Enjoy your decorating and try to schedule some quiet time to enjoy it all.

  8. I have to admit that I haven't decorated in a couple of years due to not being on our own home--don't even know where all my stuff is! But some day I will enjoy decorating my front porch the most I think. Your dollhouse is lovely!

  9. Love your little dollhouse all dolled up for the holidays. I might think about putting up my Fall wreath now and getting out some Thanksgiving decorations. Not ready for Christmas or December just yet. :) Tammy
