When it's cold and blustery out, staying put at home is a delight.
This past weekend, it was a joy to putter around the house, working on projects I never have time for otherwise.
One of these big "to do's" on the list was to take down all the cranberry glass in my collection and wash it.
Into the kitchen sink dish tub, I poured hot water, white vinegar and Dawn dish detergent.
Currently, I don't have a good way of displaying this beautiful collection so I've been keeping all the pieces on three different shelves in the living room.
After they were all nicely washed and sparkling clean, I lined three windows in the kitchen with a few pieces and three more windows in the living room.
The rest I placed on a clean, white emroidered cloth on top of the tv cabinet.
This is a very special collection to me because the very first piece of cranberry glass I got was from my beloved late mother.
She loved this pretty, deep pink glass, too!
Right below is one of the largest pieces in the collection.
So now, the pink cranberry glass is bringing to our home a touch of springtime in the dead of winter.
HAVE YOU SEEN CRANBERRY GLASS?
I did not know to add vinegar to Dawn to clean and now I do. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteAnd I love your cranberry pieces. When you get tired of them send them here.
I know putting them in front of a window with snow outside - sure brightens the snow!

Very Pretty!!! Always feels good and looks so nice to have things sparkling clean! I use vinegar and dawn for windows as well.
ReplyDeleteThey are so beautiful, I can't say that I've ever seen any in person though.
ReplyDeleteHello from Spain: big collection. Very nice. I like the pink glass. Keep in touch
ReplyDeleteYes! Cranberry is my favorite, but I have a deep purple vase I love as well.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your collection...I know you love colored glass. Since I live in earthquake country I do not own pieces of glass. Cranberry is lovely!
ReplyDeleteI have and I think it is lovely! Your collection is so pretty. I love the way it can catch the light, and even look a little different in various lighting levels. This reminds me about the glassware and such I have over my kitchen cabinets. They need a good cleaning too. :)
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful week!
Blessings,
Karen
Cranberry glass is quite charming, especially set against a window with a backdrop of gray sky and white snow. How lovely, indeed. You are lucky to have such a fabulous collection and the link to your mom(giving you the very first piece) makes it all that more precious. Thanks for sharing the pretty pictures. Enjoy.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year from, My Old Historic House, I adore cranberry glass and have collected it for years. It is so pretty when the natural light can shine through it. I love it in windows. Thanks for sharing, it looks so pretty and clean, now I need to go wash up mine. Richard and Sissy Dog

I love this type of glass, Susan. For now, I'll admire it in antique shops and specialty stores. There's no room for another collection!
