Roses for the Arbor

For a long time, I dreamed of having a rose arbor in the back yard.

Then, last year, for Father's  Day, my daughter, son-in-law and I bought one for hubs.

(If you missed the post on it and are interested, you can read it here.)

Well, it must take a lot of patience and time to grow plants that go around the arbor.

We've tried roses, clematis and several other plants but nothing has climbed even half way up.

So, in the meantime, silk roses have proven to be a good substitute!

That's  not the greatest of solutions but it's okay for now.

The arbor was love at first sight and is one of my favorite back yard decorations.

DO YOU HAVE A ROSE  ARBOR? IF YES, WHAT KIND OF PLANTS DO YOU HAVE ON TOP OF IT?

It still looks pretty but surely there is some plant out there that should be able to take off and really fill that arbor in. There's a home here that has covered parking and they have jasmine that has totally covered their entire parking area that leads up to their house. The smell is intoxicating right now. Of course, your growing season is coming to an end now. Where ours is just beginning. Have a great day. Tammy

That is a beautiful arbor and I wouldn't have known those flowers were silk. Mine usually are, too, because I can't grow a thing.

I've never had a rose arbor but they are wonderful and yours is gorgeous. I never thought about how hard it would be to grow something on it! I like your faux roses!

Linda

My dad was an expert rose grower. I don't think I inherited his gift for it. I always wanted a rose arbor, too. They seem such a heavenly way to enter a yard. xo Laura

Lovely. If you keep silk flowers fresh they are great and not seen as silk. They last longer...can go without water...so silks can be cheaper in the long run than real flowers!

.. I love the silk roses on your arbor Susan... they look beautiful.... my hubby is going to build an 'arch' (a more man friendly name than 'arbor' for my hubby to use...xx) He's putting the Arch up the side of the house.... I'd like to grow a Banksia Rose over it... but I think he'd prefer a choko vine.... have to wait and see.. .... Hugs ... Barb xx
