Raspberry Pie

Things we loved in childhood usually stay with us through adulthood.

The long list for me includes dolls, Christmas celebrations and, among others, uh, raspberry pie.

My father grew lots of raspberry bushes behind our old house.

Everyone in my family loved raspberries.

My mother used to make raspberry jam that was  more than delicious.

Once in awhile, she also made raspberry pie. Oh my goodness, just the memory makes me want to taste a bite of it again.

Well, at the Apple Barn and Country Bake Shop in Bennington, Vermont, I perused the pies.

That very night a dinner party was planned and there  would be no time to bake.

Deciding on the kind of pie to buy took about two seconds. Apple, pumpkin or raspberry?

You know which one won!

The dinner guests must have  loved it because there wasn't a single crumb left!

WHAT IS YOUR ABSOLUTE FAVORITE PIE?

  1. Mmmm... I could go for a piece of raspberry pie right now :)

Let's see, my favorite pie... pumpkin, blackberry, cherry, coconut. When I was younger I used to love meringue so my mom made me an entire pie of just meringue - what a treat!

    Have a great weekend!

  2. Not too many pies I don't like though I don't often eat them anymore. My mom always made the best lemon meringue when I was growing up. And can't get through the holidays without at least one pumpkin pie. :) Have a good weekend. Tammy

  3. My absolute favorite pie is a simple cherry pie with a home-made crust , a GOOD homemade crust ! This is also my favorite dessert, and do you know, this is a very hard dessert to come by. If I want a good cherry pie I have discovered I have to bake it myself...

Raspberries are good in almost any dessert, aren't they ? I love a god raspberry pie too !

  5. Lucky dinner guests! I love any berry pie, but I have to say that my mom's apple pie was my all time favorite. I have tried to duplicate it, but to no avail. I think the missing ingredient is my mother's love.

Today would have been my mom's 92nd birthday. I miss her and her apple pie.

  8. Raspberries are a favorite of mine! Our bushes don't do very well, though. I've never had raspberry pie, though I have added raspberries to a berry combination in the summer - strawberries and blueberries. I enjoy any kind of pie, but rarely treat myself to much more than a single taste. Have a good Saturday! xo
