They just won't have the stamina to make it through the winter.
Even though it meant giving up a favorite space, I volunteered to bring a slew of the plants into my light-filled home office.
Some of the little sweetie plants bit the dust fairly soon after being moved.
For those that showed even tiny signs of life, I continued to water them and give words of encouragement.
Lo and behold, I got a nice surprise one day last week.
Upon entering the office, bright red blooms from a darling geranium practically lit up the whole plant table. They had renewed life in the middle of winter.
It made me think of our lives here on earth. Sometimes when we are down and out, thinking there is nothing but darkness left, something good happens and life is renewed.
This past weekend, I attended the funeral of an uncle who was always gentle and kind. We gave him a nice send-off.
As sad as saying goodbye was, I know his own existence has been renewed in the other realm of life.
Losing him made me even more grateful for everything in my own life---the sun, moon and stars in the heavens, birds and flowers, music and even coffee at the start of a new day.
I know the time to leave this earth will come but, until then, each moment of life will be considered for what it is-----precious.

I know geraiums will make it over winter with care but I don't have room or patience. Glad yours did so well. A few blocks from here, a couple keeps a couple large wagons of geraiums over winter in their garage. On warm days, they pull them out on drive. I hvae seen them thrive until the next summer!
ReplyDeleteWhat is more precious to me than life itself, good health and family and friends. Nothing else matters. Flowers grow year round where I live and so it is always nice to see them blooming.
ReplyDeleteLife itself is precious. I try not to ever take it for granted. Make the most of it--do what we can and hopefully leave some sort of legacy.
ReplyDeleteMy family is my everything! How lovely those geraniums are and they brightened my day too!! Thanks for sharing them.
ReplyDeleteThis part of winter is the worst for me - so long and hard to get through. I may try to keep some of my flowers next season as that would be lovely to look at each day right now. IN the mean time I dream of sunshine and flowers and listen to windchime and bird sounds on youtube. Lol!
Have a great week. xoxo
What is more precious to me than life ...Really nothing is more precious than this life God has gifted to us.. sometimes it's hard to realize what stand before us... your post reminded me of mom. she always watered things even when it seemed the most remote that it wasnt going to survive.. nice post with love Janice
ReplyDeleteYou are right, every moment on
ReplyDeletethis earth is precious. What a delight to find your geranium blooming. And now, you have snow!
I think your flowers are beautiful and that you have a green thumb.
ReplyDeleteWhat are my thoughts about life.
Well that is a deep question.
There is right now.
Then there is just a little while.
Then there is Heaven.

I agree with our friend Sandie, this is a deep question.
More precious than life itself...
The lives of my children and their children and their Faith in God.
