Sweet Memory from Childhood

One of the earliest memories I have is going to the soda fountain of a big hotel in our home town with my mother.

It was one of the very few times that I spent time alone with her as a kid since she had four  other children.

I must have been about five years old.

The soda fountain had deep blue granite-like counter tops and one sat on round stools that swirled around.

My mother ordered a vanilla milkshake for me.

Truly, it was one of the most delicious drinks I had ever slurped through a straw!

Whenever anyone ended up in the hospital, my mother always brought a vanilla milkshake when she went to visit.  Always.

It's  a sweet tradition that I've carried on in my own life.

Recently, after a medical procedure, I relaxed at home.

My daughter came to visit and guess what she brought?

Yup, a vanilla milkshake from Ben and Jerry's provided a very delicious treat indeed.

WHAT IS ONE OF YOUR FAVORITE CHILDHOOD MEMORIES?

  3. Teenage Barn and candy bars! My mom would send my sister and I down the hill to the corner store where we got to choose a whole candy bar for each of us. Back up the hill to enjoy Teenage Barn and candy bars. What a treat that was.
