Sweet Birthday Treats

At a birthday gathering for one of my very dearest nieces, there was more than one cake.

As a matter of fact, I lost count of how many there were.

I know my sister made one for gluten free guests and one for those who don't do dairy.

There were way too many yummies besides the cakes, too, such as homemade chocolate chip cookies.

For instance, the baklava, soaked in honey, was enough to make a person jump for joy. Oh my GOODNESS.

Just read an article that said if a person wants to know what is on one's mind most, check their blog posts.

Oh NOOOOOO.  Sweets!   But it was a birthday and I didn't prepare the yummies.  ha!

And I certainly didn't taste each of them (even though I wanted to! ha!)

Happy (late) birthday to a niece who deserves all the sweets that reflect her personality. I

It is totally sweet.

Tonight, Friday, I will not be posting on Writing Straight from the Heart and will tell you why on Saturday.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE DESSERT?

  1. Is there such a thing as too many sweets at a birthday party? Those chocolate chip cookies - I can never ever get mine to look like that - I wonder if it is the use of Crisco instead of butter?

  2. Uh-Oh sugar overload. Whatever it is you are doing, I'm sure it will be interesting to hear about.

  3. Oh my! what a selection of sweets. I think I would choose the strawberry cake or the baklava. Happy Birthday to the birthday girl.

It's difficult to choose just one favorite desert. I do love cookies of all kinds. Also pies. And pudding. Not just one favorite for me I guess...

  5. Susan, what a wonderful celebration, so festive! The chocolate chip cookies look so yummy, and I smiled when I saw the baklava because I'm part Greek.

My favorite dessert is brownies......but also love chocolate cake with vanilla frosting.

    Have a peaceful weekend.

    love, ~Sheri
