Apple (Everything) Time

A trip to the mid-week farmers market this week netted lots of luscious fruits and vegetables, including fall apples!

As soon as we got home, a little almost three-year-old visitor said, "Let's make apple pie!"

So we did. However, we didn't have enough crust for the top and I didn't want to make another trip out.

Thank goodness oatmeal and brown sugar were in the cabinet and there was butter in the refrigerator. Voila!  Apple pie topping!

While it was baking, the pie, with cinnamon and nutmeg, made the house smell fabulous!

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE DISH TO MAKE WITH APPLES?

I have to be honest - that looked better than a pie with a crust topping! Will you sent me that recipe sometime?

Susan,
Thanks so much for stopping by!!

I love apple pie but I am not a baker, unfortunately but Sam's Club does make several really good ones!!
We had an apple tree in my back yard and both my Mom and Dad made the best apple pies.... Sure do miss those!! Thanks for bringing back the memory of a great childhood!!

Hugs,
Deb

Apple pie is the best! Apple crisp is a close second. And just think, "an apple a day keeps the doctor away". How great is that?

Oh my does this look good!!! Ususally we drive for apples this time of year but no time right now...and hubby can't eat them fresh much and to cook pies leads us to eating sugar we are not to have! I will enjoy yours!!!

Hi Susan, I thought I'd leave my reply here. You asked if I wax the furniture I paint with chalk paint. Yes, I do use a wax , it helps to give it durability and sheen. Thanks !
Your apple pie looks delicious, I made peach pie today.

Apple crisp which was the ONLY desert I ever made. The smell of it baking made me swoon. Mmmmmm. I could never have your desert in my house. I would eat every bite.

Susan,
I love anything apples during this Autumn season. Your apple pie looks scrumptious. There is a place that we go to every year called Apple Hill, and it has the best apple pie, apple cider, caramel apples, and so many other goodies.

Have a peaceful Sunday afternoon.
