Ahhhhh, September 30th.
This is the last day of birthday month and the celebrating has pretty much ground to a halt.
It was a sweet month with lots of fun occasions, special treats and the enjoying of cards and gifts.
Before we close the book entirely on September, this post shares a two dinners out that were extra special.
The first was a birthday dinner at a very favorite restaurant, Cafe Adam, that's worth the drive to get to Great Barrington, Massachusetts.
Appetizers included these tender squash blossoms with a tapenade on top:
Also, oysters (not my fave but I scarfed down two of them to be sociable):
The mushrooms? Mmm mmm mmm:
For the first time in my life I had duck with a cherry sauce on a bed of curried sweet potatoes. Quite delish.
Of course, there was sparkling wine:
A dear friend had the yummy steak shown below:
Another chose a creamy salmon pasta dish:
Birthday dessert was a fall fruit combo that resembled fruit crisp, shown with the lighted candle, at the very top of this post.
At a totally different, all Asian restaurant, Enso, I had shrimp Pad Thai and it was yummy.
Here was a unique version of sweet and sour chicken ordered by another person at our table:
Lo mein and veggies tempura:
Bye bye September! (Hopefully, we'll see you next year!)
And bye bye, for awhile, gourmet celebratory meals.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE CUISINE ON A SPECIAL OCCASION?
Hello from Spain: for a celebration I love seafood. It is my favorite food. I see you've had a fabulous birthday month. You deserve it. Keep in touch
ReplyDeleteSusan, may your birthday month outings be some of your favorite memories. It is only breakfast time here, but I want sweet and sour chicken. Enjoy your day.
ReplyDeleteSO much yum!
ReplyDeleteThat ice cream photo has me craving.
Oh that is an easy question. I love any kind of Chinese cuisine even on a special occasion. Seconds would be prime rib. For dessert apple pie.
ReplyDeleteI know your birthday month was a fun one. I would have loved to have joined you on your two special dinners.
Looks like you had a very good birth month indeed! :) Don't know that I really have a favorite type of cuisine. I do like pad thai and Zack has me hooked on Pho (all vegetarian, of course).
ReplyDeleteI do have to be honest - the foods are different here in GA then where you are. haha The first photo looked like pecan pie to me. I think I would get the steak. Glad you had fun with your friends.
ReplyDeleteTwo of my favorites are steak au poivre or chicken almondine. Love creme brulee or cheesecake for desert.
ReplyDeleteAll your food choices looked amazing. Sounds like you had a very "delicious" birthday month!
I guess I missed the exact date of your birthday, Susan. I'm glad you were able to spread out the celebrating. There is an Italian restaurant here that I really enjoy for a special time.
ReplyDeleteJust in case you don't read your comments section on past posts. I thought I'd re-post my comment about the plant you wanted to know the name of here.
ReplyDeleteYour plant is called a Mandevilla plant.
You can find information here about wintering over your plant so it will be just as pretty next year.

Wishing you a belated birthday Susan! I'm sorry I missed it earlier. I see from your pictures that it was celebrated in style and with lots of good food. Just as it should be.
ReplyDeleteSending your hugs and wishes for a beautiful year ahead. May there be grace and strength and joy, not to mention a continuous supply of small treats to add delight, comfort, and contentment.
