Darling Dahlias
This year we planted dahlias and they have been totally delightful.
The leaves on some of them were damaged by ugly, slimy slugs but other dahlia plants came through without a hitch.
We had different varieties and they were all equally splendorous.
The one shown in today's post is one of the most lovely, with its
two colors presenting quite a show.
One change I'd make is to refrain from planting them in the front yard round flower garden.
Those are too tall and would be better in a side yard.
Hope you enjoy these photos of my favorite beauty and of the birdies, too.
As for the little feathered friends, even though they are not real, they add a nice touch to table settings. (They cost two for a dollar at the Dollar Tree.)
HAVE YOU GROWN DAHLIAS IN YOUR YARD? DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE KIND?
You Dahlia is stunning, my friend! And the color is so rich and warm. Also, your little birdies brought a smile to my face - too cute. Hugs and blessings!
ReplyDeleteI don't have Dahlias in my yard, Susan. They kind of remind me of Mums. They are very pretty, and I love your sweet birds.
ReplyDeleteHave a good Wednesday, dear.
love, ~Sheri
My grandmother always had beautiful dahlias in her garden.
ReplyDeleteI have not seen those kind of flowers since I left Massachusetts...love the color of them and I'm glad you have such lovely blooms.
ReplyDeleteLove dahlias. I am reading the latest Darling Dahlias book by Susan Wittig Albert. xo Laura
ReplyDeleteHave no dahlias here. Yours are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI do not have dahlias. They are awesome though - loved them. Loved the birds and the Dollar Store!
ReplyDeleteOne of our cats was named Flower because she is black and white and reminded my daughter of the little skunk in Bambi....having said that... she had one litter of kittens before we had her fixed. The females were named after her - even tho their forever homes may have changed their names...we kept one and her name is Dahlia :-)
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed your post. The flowers are breathtaking :-)
