Into Our Lives Some Rain Must Fall

It's raining in torrents as I write.

The night is dark and starless.

When the rain began in the afternoon, it took hundreds of leaves down with it.

Soon, I imagine, the trees will be stripped of their fall finery and stand bare again a slate gray sky.

It's true that into our lives rain must fall and not just the watery kind from the sky.

We go through good times and then sad ones.

It's the natural progression of life as a human.

Rain makes me feel melancholy.

I want to scrunch down under the bed covers and stay there until the sun comes out again.

However,  today the day will unfold and things will get done.

It will be carry on and life, as usual.

HOW DOES THE RAIN MAKE YOU FEEL?

  1. Rain can be soothing, but usually it makes me feel dark. It has been cloudy with abundant drizzle here. It reminds me toooo much of winter. I wanted the leaves and sun to last longer. Hear it will warm up and be sunny next week but who knows?

  2. Hi Susan,
I think it takes some rainy days to make us appreciate the sunny ones more.
As a gardener I like some rainy days but definitely love the sunshine.

    Thanks for your visits,
    Carolyn

  4. I haven't seen rain in months. We are experiencing a severe drought...HOWEVER...we are supposed to get tons of rain this winter. I'm actually looking forward to it. Of course I live here because of the sunny days we have most of the year.

  5. I do feel melancholy when it rains sometimes. But I live in the sunshine state now so I see lots of sunny days. It lifts my spirits. Love your photos! Enjoy your weekend. Hugs, Diane

  6. Sorry you have been feeling sad. Rain tends to make me feel cozy. I like to be home, cooking and doing chores. About your glass pieces, did you use silicon adhesive? I have never had mine fall off, even after them being outside. Can you re glue them? :) Kit

  7. I usually don't mind the rain especially coming home after working all night and it is dark and deary which allows me to fall asleep and stay asleep for most of the day......
But last night I had to drive through such torrents of rain and flooded streets like i have never seen!!! I keep saying 4 more years until retirement......

    Hugs,
    Deb

  8. I adore an occasional rainy day. I don't want a solid week of it though. And I do hate when it takes all of autumn's colors with it.

Have a blessed rest of the week, Susan.

  9. You know I have talked to a few people and it seems it is raining everywhere.

You know I love a good thunderstorm - wind - cool weather - rain - when you go to sleep.

My problem is having more rain days then sunny days. That gets hard.

Hope the sun will come out tomorrow!

  10. Susan, I LOVE THE RAIN! We are in great need of it here in California. I hear that big storms are coming our way this winter. I think when it rains in any state that we are blessed beyond words. I live in the sunshine state, so when I see rain or snow, I am in awe and take it all in. :)

    love, ~Sheri

  11. I've never minded a rainy day, actually. I just love the coziness of the house on such a day, or going somewhere for some kind of activity. This week, on a rainy Tuesday, we had 8 full tables of bridge players, and we had a good time being with one another.

  12. Hi Susan, oh no, there go the leaves...sigh. We had a break today from the rain, but the next 3 days are supposed to be VERY WET! We so need it. I never thought we be looking forward to rain here in Oregon! I like the rain. I couldn't live here if I didn't. We just get used to it and go about our daily life.
    Thinking of you with love,
    Linda
